I wanted to share some feedback about my recent stay in Room 230, which faces ‘The Backyard.’ I had a great check-in experience—the staff were friendly, efficient, and attentive, which was a nice start to my visit. Unfortunately, things went downhill from there. When I walked into my room, I immediately noticed dust on the window sills. I’m not sure how often they get cleaned, but it seemed like it hadn’t been done in a while. In the bathroom, I found long hairs in the shower and on the vanity—definitely not what you want to see when you’re checking in. Plus, the toilet paper was less than a quarter of a roll, which made me think it was leftover from the last guest. To make things worse, when I tried to open the window for some fresh air (I’m asthmatic, so dust is a big concern for me), it slammed shut on my hand, and my phone fell out of the window! I had to go down to the bar to retrieve it, and thankfully it wasn’t damaged, but it was a frustrating experience. I think it might be a good idea to check the windows for safety—they either need some maintenance or replacing. Later that evening, around 7:45 PM, I called down to the bar to ask about the daily special. I spoke with a woman named Gretta, and her response was rude. She told me to come down and look at the menu myself or go online because she was too busy to read the menu to me. I wasn’t asking for the whole menu—just the Saturday special. Her tone and attitude were really disappointing and definitely unprofessional. Overall, I think there’s room for improvement, especially with room cleanliness and customer service at the bar. I was looking forward to trying the food, as I heard good things, but this experience really put me off. I hope you take this feedback on board to improve the experience for future guests.

I found my time here indifferent. The room was well-priced, neat and tidy, albeit lacking any meaningful storage to place personal effects, other than a suitcase stand and a side table. That said, the bed was clean and comfortable (bordering on soft... but still ok) and it the room itself felt reasonably open and spacious. Unfortunately, there were no batteries in the air-conditioning controls and after going downstairs twice to remind the staff about this problem, they seem to forget (and never ended up replacing the batteries), so I ended up purchasing some myself. The staff assured me they'd discount me for this inconvenience, but never did? Then the circuit kept going out in the bathroom and after two separate attempts to resolve the problem, I was immediately moved into a new room. While the replacement room was much bigger and better appointed (and I was very grateful for what felt like an upgrade), it was overlooking the main road and the noise was unbearable. I think I got about 3 hours sleep for the entire night. The tea and coffee-making kitchenette out in the corridor was quite pleasant and convenient in the absence of a kitchenette in the room. (This really wasn't a big issue for me). But it did mean there were a lot of people outside the room congregating there at times to make tea or coffee. Sound-proofing is something the rooms could do with as I really struggled to settle with all the noise. Upon my initial booking, I had stressed a QUIET room and sadly, this just wasn't the case. I would still return to this venue as I felt the general room conditions, location and price point was good. I would just be mindful of the 'nuances' of this old and quite beautiful hotel, especially the noise and age-related issues that come with it.

We were travelling through Wagga late on Monday evening & needed a place to stay. Romano's were very helpful, open late & able to rent us a room (it was around 11pm). We rang up & they said there were rooms available. On arrival the staff member was very helpful & welcoming & he booked us in one of their refurbished rooms. The room was great, comfortable bed, nice & dark to get a good sleep before driving again, loved the colour scheme & the bathroom was quite luxurious - the only thing that could be improved would be shower screens instead of curtains but not a big issue it would just be the finishing touch. I would definitely return to this establishment. Thanks for having us.

I loathe to post a negative review but my oh my, what on earth did I just experience tonight guys? That was a complete s$@# show. An unmitigated disaster I have never seen the likes of. The food collection counter was a complete shambles. Full of patrons bringing back their incorrect meals. Nearly every order was completely wrong. Not sure how the system failed but the first two attempts at cooking our meals was a 0 out of 4 correct. Second attempt again 0 out of 4 correct. Third attempt 3 out of 4 correct. And on the fourth attempt, we finally got the correct 4th meal. The poor kids working at the food collection counter were left to fend for themselves and were clearly out of their depth through no fault of their own. Surely one of the more experienced staff members could have stepped in to take charge and work out the obvious disconnect between what was being ordered and what was being cooked.

To add insult to injury, they then ran out of cutlery just as I was ready to tuck into my medium rare scotch filter steak. One of the bar staff quickly got me some but didn’t replenish the stock of cutlery. Not even 2 minutes later (shock, horror), another customer then had to ask for more cutlery.

The meal was perfectly fine, probably a 4 out of 5. I hope this was just a one off chain of events that snow balled into something big as I can see there have been many positive reviews in the past. The entertainment was great and the pub had a good atmosphere.

Shout out to the lamb shanks lady below. I could see the bewilderment in her eyes as she made her feelings known about the cold lamb shank she was twice served! She arrived a little later than us and her order was put in while the s#%^ was already hitting the fan in the kitchen. Her meal really didn’t...
