I’ve been coming to Sandwich Chefs for a while… and I always order the same thing (a roast pork roll with everything except apple sauce). Most of the time, my order has been made without difficulty… barring one occasion where despite being repeated twice, “everything except apple sauce” wasn’t clear enough. What happened today… takes the cake… I will be sure to supervise my roll's construction carefully in the future, I just didn’t realise I had to. Hence, my posting this as a warning to everyone else.
It started as normal… “a roast pork roll with everything except apple sauce, please”. The queue had been rather long, and I was running late, so to be fair, I was distracted by some work related text messages. I’d already counted out the money, so I was hoping the next thing would be my finished roll.
Well… it wasn’t… the staff member asked whether the roll had had margarine put on it. I looked at the roll, and it looked fresh to me. I suggested that it probably hadn’t, and that she should put some on. Then I get interrupted again… did someone put gravy on the roll? Again, I look… no, it doesn’t look like someone did. Perhaps you could see to that? Then the third interruption… did someone put apple sauce on the roll? Another staff member said that they have to ask these questions, but honestly, this is the first time I’ve ever been asked. I’ve never had to supervise my roll's construction before.
As nobody knew whether apple sauce had been put on the roll, and I was running late, I asked for my money back, which was given. I found the experience disappointing… still, now I know I can’t just leave the roll to be constructed without my...
Read moreIf you just want a plain sandwich or something kid friendly, or even decent service, this place definitely isn't for you. My mother in law got a lovely steak sandwich for $13.90. I just wanted to get a ham and cheese sandwich for my toddler and it was $11.90. Their board said cheese sandwich $7.90, plus extras $1.10 each. I know it sounds like I am complaining about nothing but I did ask why the price, and the guy was really abrupt about it. Plus, being a bit budget savvy at the moment, every dollar counts.
Not only that, I kept trying to get my turn being served but he just kept skipping me despite me trying subtly. Not all their fault, it's difficult to keep track and people around me simply didn't care that I was trying to get served, they just went ahead of me.
Safe to say we won't be back though. Nor...
