It's a decent Vietnamese inspired sandwich place, definitely not an authentic banh mi style food joint. We were travelling through Warnambool and thought would give this a go! We are also very used to superb options in Melbourne like Minh Duc Bakery and Hung's Bakery at North Richmond etc. The food is okay but wouldn't come back. When a banh mi place uses sweet chilli sauce instead of actual chilli, very little/ no pate - it's a very anglicized establishment, perhaps what the target market is for! Carrots and Daikon wasn't pickled enough, weirdly chopped cucumber instead of a long cucumber bit which makes it spill everywhere, not ideal. Clean and organized store. We were dining in, not sure why so much packaging and a paper bag was used. Their values are being green, surely using less packaging is part of that. But that's an establishment choice. It's just annoying when crumbs are falling through and even a normal plate wasn't given for dine in. The saving grace was the Hoisin and Sriracha sauce on the table, which helped lift the spice a little and was able to finish the banh mi. The girls did not spead the meat evenly and the mayo used is not whole egg mayo. It has a weird plastic taste - perhaps it's a vegan mayo. I usually don't give reviews like these but after the decor and shop vibe around Vietnam, guess just expected it to be a bit more on the authentic side! Seems to be popular among the crowd, perhaps just not what we were after....
Read moreWas so happy to see they had a vegan menu. The girls that served me were super lovely! I had high hopes for my meal, as I absolutely love the flavours of traditional Vietnamese cuisine. I was so hungry- I hadn’t eaten all day so I ordered two dishes. However, I couldn’t even finish one of them as it was just that unappetising! The pad Thai tasted like rice noodles with ketchup and some coriander and peanuts thrown in with a whole block of tofu sliced up. And the laksa had an overbearing tomato flavour too. I wish the owners would review their recipes as this establishment has a lot of promise- would be great to see them improve...
Read moreI was both disappointed and happy with the food, the chicken bahn mi was so good we decided to order some take away for dinner... we order a chicken pad thai and a tofu tom yum...... heres where we were disappointed to say that we had a both meals that consisted of noodles and very little else apart from the tofu and chicken that was ordered was a great let down especially for the price, the tom yum was soooo sweet , had no bean sprouts and very little other vegetables that were mentioned and the pad thai seemed to be missing everything it was noodles sauce and chicken.... big...
