The man at the counter - presumably the owner - was unwelcoming. He appeared to be stressed because the kitchen was backlogged with orders. When customers entered they were told there would be be an hour wait for food because there is only one chef in the kitchen.

I was sitting right across from the counter and felt uncomfortable when he was speaking to customers because of how rude he was. Frankly it was awkward and unpleasant to watch.

My partner asked to use a bottle opener and the response given was “we don’t take outside drinks” yet everyone at all but one other table had BYO drinks and several signs on the walls said BYO - corkage $2 per person.

Despite the poor customer service I thought the food must be good because it was so busy. I was wrong.

The edamame was served unseasoned, cold and it was a little slimy.

There was a stack of dirty plates with flies buzzing around sitting on top of the freezer. It was only moved so the chef could get inside the freezer.

I ordered the teriyaki tofu bento and was given beef. The man apologised for the mix up and I got my food shorty after.

Hearing a microwave in the kitchen is always concerning to me. Despite using a microwave to reheat food, my teriyaki tofu was cold in the...

Mama and Papa's Cafe is a hidden gem that I can't recommend enough. From the moment you step inside, you're greeted with a warm and friendly atmosphere that instantly puts you at ease. The vegan food options here are simply outstanding - the flavors are so rich and satisfying, you won't believe they're plant-based.

The staff here go above and beyond to make sure you have a fantastic dining experience. Mama Emily is not only beautiful but also incredibly welcoming, making you feel like part of the family. The freshly prepared Japanese dishes are served hot and bursting with delicious flavors that will keep you coming back for more.

I can't get enough of the stir-fried noodles here; they're an absolute must-try! And don't even get me started on the tempura udon - it's a game-changer. Plus, the new Chicken Karaage dish is a delightful addition to the menu that you simply can't miss.

Not only are the prices reasonable, but the quick and attentive service ensures that every visit is a memorable one. Whether you're a vegan food enthusiast or just looking for a cozy spot to enjoy some top-quality Japanese cuisine, Mama and Papa's Cafe is the place to be. Make sure to stop by and treat yourself to a truly delectable dining...

I first visited this restaurant to visit a friend working there at the time, however a quick visit to this establishment soon turned into one of the best dining experiences of my life. On a whim i was given the opportunity to try their chili chicken rice meal. And my goodness how absolutely amazing the food itself was. I shared it with a mate of mine who equally shared my love for the dining experience. The humble and warmly lit decor that made me feel quite cozy and at home in the establishment, not to mention the soft and soothing jazz infused background ambience that really gave off a sophisticated allure to the establishment. The staff aswell were incredibly friendly and absolutely welcoming, which only enhanced my experience. Emily in particular of whom i was introduced to was extremely lovely, and while i didnt quite catch the name of the man at the counter he was just as friendly and wonderful. While i had only the pleasure of spending a short amount of time in this restaurant i still simply cannot recommend it enough, would definitely...

For the first time, I was so disappointed that I did not even remember to take a photo of my dish. Only my family took a dish of their bento set. The chef was nice and friendly but the man serving looked pretty unhappy when interacting with us. Noticed that majority of the other customers were non Asians and we were the only Asians there. Saw him smiling when serving the other customers. Food was average. No wow factor. Ordered udon yaki. This place is really over-rated. Very disappointing. Definitely not worth the price especially for the bento set. Over-priced.

A Japanese run store with only one chef and one front of house staff with some indoor seating as well as nicely decked out outdoor seating out the back. The venue was nicely decorated and has photos of the food and other memorabilia along the walls inside. The food is good, though dishes can be a bit rich and heavily smothered in strong sauces compared to other similar authentic Japanese restaurants. Prices have also just gone up $1 for most mains but were yet to be reflected in the menu available at the time, making the food not particularly cheap.
