Don't waste your time and money.
It is unfortunate that the places in the best locations are often the most disappointing. Called through a basic order which consisted of grilled fish, crumbed fish, a crabstick and chips around 5pm so before the dinner rush, the lady on the phone asked when we would like it and we asked if 10 minutes was ok and she replied yes see you in 10. I arrive and the girl behind the counter asks the cooks how long and they reply 10 minutes and she apologised to me for the delay. Another 10 minutes go by and I hear them say they've done the wrong fish and have to do it again. 20 minutes later the rest of my meal still sitting in the paper in the kitchen is picked up by one of the staff asking the other staff if anyone knew who’s order it was, once they worked out it was mine they threw it all together and kindly offered me a can of drink and some sauce.. The process at Amberjacks clearly has many faults in their system that need to be addressed. I gave 2 stars only because I could see the front staff were trying to make up for stuff around and genuinely looked sorry. The food itself was also a let down, my chips and crabstick were soggy from sitting for so long in the paper, my crumbed fish was overcooked and looked like something you would find in a birdseye packet and the grilled fish looked poached rather than grilled and had no flavour. Please fix these issues so other people don’t waste their money...
Read moreI've eaten here before on a quiet night, and it was passable, and the only reason I'm giving it 2 stars, otherwise, it would be a 1. Granted its summer holidays, everyone was waiting to enjoy the sunset. We legit waited over an hour for a single serve of fish n chips, some tempura prawn, a couple of pineapple fritters and cokes. Price was steep at $54, but figured it must be good considering the queue out the door. A perfect example that sometimes, people just join a line for no other reason than convenience of location. Imagine spending an hour surrounded by almost 100 whiny children and irate, hangry parents... It was NOT a vibe!
By the time we got our food, sunset had been and gone, like our visions of enjoying our dinner with a view. It was dark so we drove straight home cos we were starved. Wish I had taken a pic, but, we were too hungry and tucked str8 into the greasy, lukewarm disaster! Fish was overcooked, too firm and batter was a soggy, greasy mess, as were my smooshy tempura prawns. Chips were soggy, and unseasoned. I had to strip the batter off the pineapple fritters, cos by this point... I had reached my capacity for soggy, doughy mush...just gross! Get a decent dinner at one of the restaurants, nearby, where you can relax with table service instead of waiting anxiously for your number to be called when its 100...
Read morePleasant place but I feel it's not value for money in comparison to other fish and chip shops, I asked the server for fish and chips but upgraded to fish of the day (local snapper), some crumbed tiger prawns (4) and a dim sim, when I got my package it felt light and upon opening there were no chips, whilst the server was lovely, apologise for the miscommunication it was another $7.66 on top of $39.21 I paid for the addition of a small chips, $46.87 for a meal for one is a bit steep for fish and chips.
In comparison to some high-end pubs, for an average you can spend $35 for fish and chips and a salad plus condiments.
I could be wrong also but there is no clear signage at the till that you the customer WILL PAY for the service charge when your card is used, hence the pricing above are not round figures, it may be a round figure at POS but you statement will state other wise.
Whilst I understand times are tough for small businesses it's the little details like adding a free condiment and maybe some fresh lemon to go with your package that make the above forgivable.
Please be mindful when reading this review I did pay for fresh premium fish which was $18.50 but you might want to add in a handful of chips to go with that to get repeat customers.
Everything was cooked and...
