As an Indigenous person, Iâve never felt so disrespected by a business owner as I did during this experience. My friend and I placed our orders at the same time, but after 10-15 minutes, I noticed my food hadnât arrived while theirs had. When I raised the issue, the owner tried to downplay the situation, blaming ordering and ticketing procedures. It was only after I patiently pressed for answers that she half-heartedly admitted to the mistake, but not before accusing me of âstaff shamingâ and âbullyingââwhich never happened. Even after she backtracked and attempted to apologize, the interaction left me deeply disappointed, not angry.
All I wanted was an honest explanation for why my meal was late and why I couldnât enjoy it with my friend. Instead, the owner chose to deny the delay and hide behind excuses. I will never return to this business, and Iâm certain the owner couldnât care less. Thatâs why my review is 1 star. The 3-star rating is solely for the young lady who was professional, polite, and recommended an amazing smoothie.
I was offered a full refund, but by then, the food had gone cold in the kitchen. I ended up giving all the money to the barista as a tip. They can keep their money and their unprofessional service.    Read moreThe Bay Merchants is a very busy Cafe. It's a pretty trendy place to be with a lot of seemingly professional people enjoying a relaxing weekend with a great coffee and a leisurely breakfast. There tends to be a bit of a delay and the entrance into the cafe is a little bit squeezy if customers are waiting in line to place their orders (as there are a bench and chairs very close to this thoroughfare) None the less, don't let that discourage you from ordering a delicious coffee and perusing a small menu with freshly made food available. We only ordered a takeaway coffee and sat at a small table and watched a busy thrum of customers come and go. Albany is a popular destination for Perth city Folk during the summer school holidays and it was very evident that they were all out and about even though that morning Albany had misty rain falling. Next time I'll be ordering from the menu as the food looked delicious as it was delivered to the tables of...
Read moreWife & I are staying at Pelicans so we thought we would try breakfast locally at Bay of Merchants. Found a table then went to the counter to order, literally stood under the âplease order hereâ sign and male staff member looked straight through me on at least 4 occasions, went out from behind the counter at least 3 times. A local couple came in & the same staff member greeted them immediately with a smile and continued to serve them. I then gestured to my wife that we were leaving to find somewhere else to give our $50 to for breakfast. Not once was I even acknowledged & with âgood morning, be with you soonâ. This venue was recommended by the local cyclists that I have ridden with as this is/used to be their local haunt, presume it still is going by some of the Decor. At this point we will not...
