I liked everything about this place. The service was attentive, the atmosphere was cosy, the wines and beers were great and the food was outstanding.

Service We were greeted warmly by a woman who appeared to be the owner, who politely told us we could sit wherever we liked, even though we hadn't booked (to be honest, I'm not sure booking is possible). The food came out after the perfect amount of time; not so quickly that you feel rushed, but also not so slowly that we felt like we were sitting around waiting. We also had four mains and they all came to the table at the same time.

Food Our party of four ordered the: beef cheeks with polenta, prosciutto-wrapped chicken breast, risotto, and the curry of the day (beef korma). We couldn't fault a single one of the dishes.

Drinks The drinks menu had a comprehensive wine list, which included a full page of wines by the glass. There are lots of options from local producers from the Great Southern, which is exactly what we were after while visiting Albany. The beers were supplied by Artisan Brewing, so an obvious 10/10 there.

We all highly recommend Rats and felt the need to leave this review as a contrasting opinion to the strangely high volume of people who are apparently trying to take kids to a small wine bar with...

Had the weirdest experience I’ve ever had in a restaurant… the website says closing at 9pm, arrived at 7pm and asked if we can still order food we were told “if you’re quick” we had about 1 minute and the sour lady came over demanding our order, when we asked for recommendations we were given a blank face and when we asked about the cheese board we were told “it’s just cheese” and when asked about recommendations for the wine we were told “any wine is good with cheese” and nothing further apart from a miserable face When we still had food on our platter, we were asked “are you still going” to which we replied “yes” and the man stood and waited till my friend finished her mouthful regardless of the platter still having food and he said “I’m on dishes.” It was only 8:15 at this point… It’s a real shame because this place is a nice spot and relaxing vibe but the service was a real let down… paid over $100 to be made to feel uncomfortable and didn’t even get to finish our food Do...

Relaxed atmosphere, good food and great wine..but a smile would be nice ! You can't book, so you have to atet your chances getting a table. They don't serve meals until 5.30pm, but you can have drinks and bar snacks before hand. The little bar gets busy with people having an early evening drink, so either go really early and enjoy pre dinner drinks or try your luck going later for a table. The owner/manager lady was abrupt and not particularly welcoming, and any questions about menus, table availability were all met with an unsmiling, curt response. HOWEVER, the wines are excellent and the food when we got it was great too - beef cheeks and warm veg salad both recommended. If you can see passed the management's attitude Rats Bar is a pleasant spot for a drink or meal. Don't recommend it for families with...

Trendy tapas bar at night, coffee lounge in the morning. The most surprising toilet in Albany. Named after the original owners Ralph and Trish (accronim RAT), the premises carries the logo of the local marsupial (bandicoot) which can be seen in the bush across the road.

A super place to have a drink and a delicious bite to eat, just a stone's throw from Middleton beach. The relaxed trendy ambience ,moody decor and superb menu and great wine and cocktail list make this a must to visit.

Nice cozy bar with lots of choices of drinks wines and beers. We had 3 dips of menu and they tasted great. Comfy chairs. Good toilets. Very busy place. Not to noisy. Interesting name ask the bar man how it came about.
