My friends and I booked for 6pm and were told we had 90 minute timeslot,as our table had a booking for 7.30. At first we thought that would be plenty of time. However we wanted to order the jerk chicken and were advised it was cooked fresh and it would take 30 minutes to cook... So we had to quickly order our meals with the said deadline in mind. Strange the meal taking so long to prepare when there are set seating times. Also, surely that should be mentioned on the menu. In addition, the constant reminder we needed to vacate our table meant it wasn't a very relaxed meal, more a quick bite, dessert and then our time was up. Funnily enough, I visited the bathroom at 7.32 and returned to be told my friends were sitting outside! The thing we found strange was, about 15 minutes later, 3 tables inside were free... So maybe with better planning, we wouldn't have been rushed off our table to sit outside. The weather was pleasant so it was ok to sit outside and have a drink. It was just a little unsettling being hurried to eat ourmeal. The staff were very kind, apologetic, accomodating and attentive during all of this. To the menu: was quite disappointed the menu was minimal and not like the delicious share plates like my last visit. No chicken wings :( I ordered the tortilla. It tasted quite nice. However not a meal or "big meal" as the menu suggested, more like a shared plate. I was still hungry afterwards even after my rushed dessert. The meal was just 2 deep fried tortillas with a tasty filling, I must admit, with a delicious meat gravy on the side, strangely that went well... I asked for added jalapenos and glad I did as they gave the meal a bit of bite, flavour and spice. It would have been nice to have a side of some sort, like fries, nachos, veggies or even a salad, just anything to qualify it as a main meal and it's price tag of $18…! My friends ordered the jalapeno sausages which were tasty and the beef ribs which had lots of char and flavour. Both of which came with potatoes and fries. Also quite pricey for a meal and a few drinks - over $170. Tasty food, but quite a weird experience overall with strange mix of menu items but the service was friendly...

Came again last Saturday with friends after recommending here for dinner and drinks.
The Mango Daiquiris were really disappointing. They hadn't blended the drinks properly so nothing would come up through the straw, tried drinking it straight and it's was so chunky and awkward. I've had the daiquiris before and I know they aren't meant to be like this- they are normally smoother and easily drinkable. Was disappointed when I told the waiter and they didn't offer to redo them. They could see we struggled with them for ages before giving up. I'm sure I've had them from here in the past with no issues
We had other drinks and they were great but it was just disappointing that we ordered 3 of these and they weren't drinkable.
Besides that food was great but my friends made it clear they weren't impressed by how the drink situation was handled. I can see from both perspectives but seriously our bill was hundreds, redoing the drinks wouldn't have been a big deal and everyone would have been happy and...
Read moreTHIS REVIEW IS NOT FOR THE BREAKFAST MENU
This place used to be awesome before their 'revamp'. Every seat used to be full and the atmosphere was awesome. When we went we were 2 out of the total 7 people in the restaurant, and we were presented with a menu that was literally an A4 sheet of paper that wasn't even laminated.
The menu apart from being a single sheet of paper was hard to decide on because there were no images and the overly simplistic food descriptions made me go to their instagram to figure out what was on the menu.
It has to be stated that the food is still good and the staff are nice, they are friendly and help with whatever they can.
But it just feels like Decanter has lost its identity. Doesn't make sense to advertise BBQ as part of the menu when their ribs are only available for two days in the week, unlike the old menu that had a separate place on the menu for smoked meats. It feels lonely in the restaurant and the food seems very 'fine dining' to me instead of fun.
Hope something changes I...
