I have never had such an awful customer service experience in any restaurant or cafe before. Unbelievably rude. A few colleagues and I met at this cafe on a Saturday morning to have breakfast and work on a few tasks. We ordered breakfast and coffee and were minding our own business. Around 1 hour and 10 minutes into our meeting a male staff (I'm assuming the manager?) comes to our table with an angry tone telling us that they are very busy that morning and have a cap for people staying no longer than one and a half hours at the cafe. Followed by "we can't have people setting up an office here all day".
I am shocked and appalled and wondering if I should take this further with consumer protection. So if you decide to meet a few friends here, make sure you don't go over their supposed "time-limit"! Someone at the back will be timing you! In fact, you don't even have to go over their time limit for them to kick you out, as according to their own supposed rules, we still had another 20 minutes left. I would never set foot in this cafe again. We still had another few things to cover in our meeting and had to pay for food and drinks that we didn't want (because we had already eaten at Sixteen Ounces) at a cafe next door, just so that we could have a place to sit a bit longer. The lovely cafe next door were welcoming and told us that we were welcome to stay all day (not that we were...
Read moreI usually enjoy getting coffee here, and the staff are generally okay. However, this morning, I had an interaction with one of the staff members, an older Asian lady, that left me feeling uncomfortable.
She asked me where I was sitting, but the way she spoke (the tone) made me feel a bit dumb. She didn't even smile or greet me. Even when customers were standing in front of the till, she acted as if she didn’t see us and didn’t seem happy that customers were coming in. It seemed like she wasn't happy to be there.
I hope this was just a one-off, but this isn’t the first time I've been served like that by her.
I'm a barista and work FOH too, so I know she can do better than that. Hopefully things...
Read moreDropped in here for a very late brunch around 1:00pm on a miserable day, weatherwise (very cold and drizzling). Sixteen Ounces is warm and welcoming, and aesthetically very pleasant. The menu is not overly complex and has something for everyone, including the option to craft your own breakfast from scratch. Prices are reasonable and service today is quick. Coffees arrive promptly, and taste awesome! My wife’s Good Karma option is beautifully plated and she’s stoked, and my Full Pound is very satisfying. Lots of real indoor plants set off the decor, and they are complimented by the dried flower artwork on sale by a local artist. Cost for 2: $53.50. Well recommended, would definitely...
