Had an unpleasant experience dining here and giving 2 stars for the only positive aspect which was the lovely attitude of the young waitperson who was polite and helpful. The attitude of the other waitperson who served us left much to be desired. I asked if there were any restaurent specials for the evening which i felt was an unoffensive question, as almost every restaurent i have been in has chef's specials which are often highly recommended. Instead of a "yes" or "no" which I would have been happy with, she arrogantly said that her father had been cooking for 50 years and everything was special. The tone and attitude was most offputting and unwarranted. It made our party feel so uncomfortable that we were ready to walk out but didnt as we were not going to bring ourselves down to her level. Foodwise the flavours were pretty average. The portion size of chilly mussels was half that of other Italian restaurents and the freshness was again average. It came as a shock to learn that the bread which came with the mussels cost extra as every other Italian restaurent I have dined in all over the world as well as in Australia has never charged extra for this. The crumbed veal cutlet ordered also excluded salad and other sides unless you paid for them. We chose this restaurent because the heavy advertising on the radio caught our attention but this was the first and the last time for us. The choices of good to excellent Italian restaurents in Perth are many, and well seasoned diners prioritise their choices according to the quality of food served as well as service and attitude of staff and I am afraid La Cassetta has somehow failed to deliver on...
Read moreThe Committee of Owners invited us to lunch for the 7 December 2012. From the exterior it looks a bit plain but once inside its very pleasant. It reminded me of that movie ‘The Witch, Lion and Wardrobe’, passing through the heavy black door from one place into a new world. Once inside I noticed the very well presented and welcoming staff and you couldn’t miss the bar. We headed to our table of 8 which was easily noticeable. We were very soon offered drinks and most of us chose LLB as it was lunch. A little while later we were given the Christmas Menu. We could have had the a la carte menu but we chose the ‘limited choice menu’ There were 3 choices of entrée, main-course and desert. More than half chose the Garlic Prawns which came to the table bubbling in boiling garlic butter. Sue and I chose the lightly fried Calamari. It was very good. The others were raving about the Garlic Prawns. The main course choices were either Fish, Chicken, Veal, or Fillet Steak.
Most chose either the fish or steak. Everyone was very happy with the food and service. I tried really hard to find something to complain about but came up with nothing.
If you want ‘Italian’ décor, crisp, bright white table cloths and great traditional European food then we...
Read moreDiscovered when looking for something different on a cold friday night. Staff were very welcoming, explained they were busy, and it would be a small wait before being served. The wait wasn't that long. From ordering to receiving our food, the time was very minimal. The food was very nice, simple, but not plain or boring. Most importantly, the food was good, wholesome, and satiating Italian food. The food we ordered had plenty of flavour. Was fresh and served hot. The fresh vegetable side for two was just enough to supplement our pasta based mains. The staff attending the table were all very polite and carried friendly smiles. Menu was quite extensive without being overwhelming. We didn't try anything extravagant. We wanted a good, simple, homely meal, and that is exactly what we received. A great place for a quiet relaxed and enjoyable meal with friends or your better half, where conversation can flow comfortablly and the background music was relaxing and loud enough to be heard, but not so loud as to need raised voices. We were in and out in about 1 hour, including the wait at the beginning, but we didn't have room to fit a dessert. Though the dessert menu was very tempting. Will be going...
