I normally try to avoid posting negative reviews without the chance for the venue to rectify the experience but since I did reach out to the manager and received no response I believe this to be a fair situation.
When we came in, we could tell that it had obviously been a slow afternoon as the staff were beginning to pack up the outside area and the display cabinet had all been packed away; nevertheless we figured that since it was 2:00pm and online specified that you did not close until 3:30, we decided to come in.
Whilst the girl who handed us the menus was friendly you could definitely tell she, and the other staff member who was present, were hoping that we'd be getting takeaway. She took our order which I clearly implied we were dining in, yet when she brought the order to the table they were in takeaway containers and the young girl said to us 'sorry, somehow your order was put through as a takeaway and not a dine in. Did you still want to sit here and eat it?' I was a tad confused as to how it was put through and brought out as a takeaway considering the young girl was the one who took our order, but we said that yes, we did intend to stay to eat our food.
As we were dining, the staff carried on with their closing duties which was fine, but I then witnessed another customer come into the cafe and stand patiently at the cabinet hoping someone would acknowledge her. Low and behold the staff behind the counter didn't, so she ended up walking out with nothing. Not really a good look. Despite it being quiet, no one came to clear away the coffee cups on the table, and lights to the place were being switched off around us making it clear that they wanted to leave, and we weren't particularly welcome to stay.
The food and coffee were really lovely which ultimately made the trip worth it so I do intent to on coming here again in the hopes that this was just a one off bad days hopefully be able to change my review...
Read moreVisited Laneway 7 for a dine-in breakfast at 11:20 on the 30/3/25, and unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing.
First, we waited an hour for our food, only to receive it cold. The eggs were undercooked and drenched in oil, the bacon was burnt, and the hashbrowns were completely inedibleâclearly from the cheapest preheated packet, worse than what youâd get at McDonaldâs. Half of our order was missing, and we had to ask staff to fix it.
I ordered a berry smoothie, which was advertised as having honey and sweet fruits but instead was watery and bitter. When I asked for it to be fixed, I instead opted for a flat white that wasnât even close to a flat whiteâit resembled a latte or even a cappuccino, as confirmed by my partner, who is a qualified barista. Additionally, my partner had a coffee frappe which was extremely bitter and we resorted to dosing it with a ridiculous amount of sugar to try to rectify the drink.
To top it off, the meal was ridiculously overpricedâ$80 for something that should have cost $30. My partner wanted pancakes, but they werenât available, so we had to pick something else.
The service was just as disappointing. The staff seemed unprofessional, and the person taking our order nearly burst into tears because the till/computer wasnât working.
We left starving because half the meal was inedible. Overall, this was a complete waste of time and money. Would not recommend.
I almost never write reviews but had to in this case, to save people from wasting their...
Read moreRight, letâs get down to it! Walked into Laneway Seven, and the vibe was spot on â cozy, inviting, with that fantastic hum of a cafĂ© that knows what itâs doing.
First up: the lattes. Ordered a classic latte and a hazelnut latte. Now, let me tell you, these were not your average lattes. Generous in size, piping hot but not scalding â just how it should be! Barista, take a bow. Youâve nailed it.
On to breakfast: Corn fritters. Now, we had these without the chipotle mayo â and even without it, they were a hit. Generous portion, perfectly cooked, and seasoned just right. Itâs not easy to get fritters right, but these? Bloody brilliant. And the value for money? Exceptional.
Then, the Big Breakfast. And oh, what a breakfast it was. Sourdough, beautifully poached eggs â they were like little clouds of perfection â crispy bacon, juicy sausages, hashbrowns that had the perfect crunch, hearty beans, and mushrooms that were cooked beautifully. Each element was spot on, cooked nicely, seasoned well, and tasted fantastic. Service was friendly, welcoming â exactly what you want in a local spot.
Overall? Laneway Seven is doing it right. A solid 4.5 out of 5 stars. Get yourself down there, you wonât be...
