Recently had lunch at the Pavilion, have eaten there a few years ago and it was fantastic.
This place is great value for money and it’s an awesome facility for students to get hands on experience.
Our waiter was awesome but did struggle under the bullying eye of the lecturing supervisor who was over the top rude to all the students and guests. Couldn’t even put on a fake smile, I know people have bad days but I clearly don’t think this lady should be in hospitality, let alone training people to be in hospitality.
We did speak to the nice gentleman behind the counter who has been there for years and she came over and snapped again. Seriously she should change careers, maybe a prison officer or old school debt collecting thug.
3 or more of the meals where basically not eatable. Steaks were just very tough and it would not have mattered how well they cooked them cheap cuts like this shouldn’t be used. The carvery meat wasn’t much better. Put the price up a service a better quality cut of meat to make the training chef’s experience better.
Then for the seafood curry, I have near seen a piece of fish in a curry that you could only cut with a steak knife and even then it was like an old piece of rubber.
Very sad as previous experiences have been great and to think it’s booked out months in advance. I wouldn’t...
Read moreTerrible experience. Entree was nice. Warm bread with butter. Then as main we had a Curry with mushrooms (undercooked) and rice (very overcooked). Dessert was dry, tasted like old ingredients had been used. It was well presented, but plate was freezing cold, which indicates dessert had been staying in a (smelly?) fridge for a long time. 3 of us had the same and nobody could eat it. Service was honestly very poor, you would expect a 10year old to do a better job. 3 of them were standing next to the bar, laughing and chatting. They did not remember who had ordered what (we were 5 people), sometimes they would serve from the right, sometimes from the left, they did not serve our BYO wine , only offered water twice. At the end, nobody checked on how the experience was for us, did not asked for feedback, 2girls started to take the table clothes from the other tables dragging them on the floor. We will never go back there, it's ridiculous. Not expecting a 5 star treatment but a minimum effort from young people who should be doing their very best while given the chance to have real customers, paying $30 for a meal. Clearly no supervision or...
Read moreWent here for lunch with some friends. This restaurant is a training restaurant where students are at school 4 days a week and one day learning skills at the TAFE. They spend 2 years here.
Let’s start with the food. We opted for the three course special starting with calamari for entree and carvery for mains. The calamari was lovely and consisted of whole baby octopus with some salad the octopus was lovely.
We had the carvery for mains. The beef and lamb was tasty and tender. The various accompaniments, which there were plenty to choose from, were also tasty and well cooked. Others had the barramundi which they enjoyed. The deserts were also tasty. We did have to send the drinks back for some adjusting but all turned out well in the end and it was due to a lack of experience. Service was a bit patchy, but again they are in training and we totally understand.
All in all we enjoyed the food and the experience and it was lovely to support these young people as they start their journeys in the hospitality industry. Well...
