I wanted to share my recent experience, and I believe it's important for consumers to be informed about their choices. I visited this San Churros where the Asian owner seemed defensive and evasive when I inquired about the oil they were using. Initially, he mentioned it was mixed oil, but when I asked for clarification on whether it contained animal oil, he said he didn't know and i can tell he felt guilty.
The situation became more concerning when he changed his response, claiming that the company didn't want to disclose the oil to him and assured me the churros are all vegan and it didn't matter to him about the oil used after i told i cannot consume anything animal. To my surprise, he quickly brushed me off and changed the subject, appearing uninterested in addressing my concerns. This behavior was accompanied by a jovial demeanor when interacting with his staffs and extremely friendly towards his other customers which seems trying too hard to get customers to revisit his store and refusing to understand the importance of my question as long he can make business.
I took the matter into my own hands and contacted the company directly to obtain information about the oil used in their products. It's worth noting that some of my vegan friends had previously experienced issues with this shop regarding food preparation.
As an Asian myself, I understand that budget considerations sometimes lead to the mixing of oils to make them last longer, but it's crucial for businesses to maintain transparency and honesty in their communication with customers. I hope this experience serves as a reminder for all consumers to inquire about the products they're purchasing and to support establishments that prioritize openness and integrity in...
Read moreDecided to pop in for a “quick” hot drink and sweets after a beautiful walk through the Joondalup lights @10pm. The place was relatively busy but not overflowing.
We placed our order. 20 mins later one got their 3 churros. Another 5 mins and we got our drinks. After another 10 mins I went and asked about our order as we had almost finished our drinks and wanted to get home. I went to the counter and asked the young girl if our order was going to be long. She shrugged. Then pointed to one guy who seemed to be doing all the work. Then said “there’s not much I can do about it” and dismissed me. 5 mins later we received our order.
The new lemoncello arrived without the lemon. The churros original snack arrived with strawberries that were soft and almost off, which was even more disappointing as I actually order and extra side of strawberries, so I’m sure they searched for the worst ones and no banana. We then called the young waiter over and asked, who returned with a small bowl of bananas.
No apology from anyone, no recognition at the wait.
Would definitely not bother going again - especially if they have a few customers and you don’t have an hour to kill.
Didn’t take a photo of the food, just wanted to eat and leave. Very disappointed as I’ve had amazing experiences at every other San Churros...
Read moreI was CHARGED TWICE - Make sure you check EVERYTHING or you could get ripped off!!!
Online / at table wasn't working, so I asked the worker to order manually. Despite me showing him that it wasn't working and what the error was on the phone, he said " have you tried the internet "... When I showed him the problem and TOLD him that it wouldn't allow me to enter the table number, he simply asked " have you tried entering the table number"..... After the order and I sat down , same person, said " sorry your transaction couldn't go through" DESPITE confirming ' all good' at counter prior When I went to pay, I requested the rejection receipt for the error (as above), and he was unable to provide me it. I didn't want to argue as there was a line behind me getting longer so I paid again. The same guy, likely due to being unhappy I asked him for the rejection receipt conveniently 'forgot' one of the orders I confirmed later there was no such transaction error, and I was charged for the order twice!! I also forgot to mention both the menus on our table were sitting in a puddle of dirty water from cleaning, soaking up all the lovely bacteria. I hope no one gets severe gastro from this place.
The only saving grace was that the half of the order that actually came, was of...
