I did send this review after a request to review via email. I would prefer not to publicly post a bad review and give a place a chance to respond privately, but I received no reply. Sappore has definitley changed, I have been coming here since they opened years ago and loved the service, coffee and food. Over the last few months it has gone downhill. A few weeks ago we ordered two milkshakes, one strawberry and one spearmint, out came a single brown coloured milkshake that we were told was "strawberry and spearmint". We explained each of our children (two sitting at the table) are having a milkshake, one strawberry and one spearmint, she looked confused and we had to explain we needed her to take away the "mixed" single milkshake and bring us the two we ordered, eventually they came out correctly.
Yesterday my Mum ordered two takeaway coffees, for the first time ever, I could not drink a Sappore coffee. They were extremely weak, milk had large bubbles and over steamed. Definitely did not taste like Fiori coffee beans. Tasted like a dodgy servo coffee you buy from a roadhouse.
We came for Mother's Day breakfast today, it was very disorganised. We booked a table for 6 people for 10am, we arrived on time and after someone eventually came to help, she couldn't find the booking on the list and seated us with no menus/cutlery/glasses.
We managed to find our own menu (one for the whole table), and we were unable to find any water or glasses, after asking and then being given 6 hot glasses and warm water, I walked to the car and got our own water bottles.
It took 30 mins for our coffee, 45 mins for our juice and 90 minutes for our food. Nobody checked on us, or told us there would be delays, we had our three young kids with us and we managed to keep them entertained for the time we waited, but it was not an enjoyable time for us or the kids.
We noticed Uber Eats were coming and going throughout the whole two hours we were there. It was pretty annoying watching coffee after coffee going out the door and the baristas and chefs getting slammed while every table was empty of food and coffee.
Suggestions: *Turn off Uber Eats when you have events like Mother's Day breakfast and lunch. *Have someone greeting people at the door and controlling the seating, a "Please Wait to Be Seated" sign for busy days? *Have enough glassware and cold water. *Space your bookings out. *An experienced manager on. *Train all your staff to make everything on the drinks menu. *Don't let untrained people make coffee, Sappore had the best coffee in Belmont for years. *Respond to the feedback you request to avoid public...
Read moreI’ve never left a bad review before, but we were really disappointed after visiting on Anzac Day. We were happy to pay the 15% surcharge for a public holiday, expecting good service and food in return. Unfortunately, the experience fell short.
We waited about 25 minutes for our meals, which came out with cold bacon, nearly burnt hashbrowns, and an overcooked poached egg with eggshell in it. The smashed avo was missing feta and had parmesan instead, but we weren’t told about the change. While the chai and cappuccino were lovely and came out quickly, the rest of the food was bland and underwhelming.
When we first received our food, there were chips left on the plate from a previous dish, which was really concerning. Coming from someone who works in food service, this is not safe or acceptable from a food hygiene perspective, as it can lead to foreign objects being left in meals and shows a lack of proper cleaning or care in plating.
We still tried to overlook the issues and eat what we could, as we were hungry and wanted to enjoy the morning—but by the time we found the eggshell and noticed the overcooked hashbrowns, half the food had already been eaten because we were trying to push through and make the most of it.
We came for a dog-friendly experience, but even that missed the mark. The puppycinos were served in cups our dogs couldn’t drink from, and the “grilled chicken, rice and carrot” meal had no rice at all.
After all this, we kindly asked for a refund—which we never normally do—but were mistakenly charged instead of refunded. Thankfully, we caught it before leaving the carpark.
We really wanted to enjoy this place, but sadly the service and quality didn’t match the price. Hopefully, things improve for others in future, we are truly disappointed for our first...
Read moreI recently dined at “Sapore Espresso Bar” and opted for two of the BREAKFAST ARANCINI (V) for myself and my partner – a delightful dish featuring three crunchy mushroom arancini accompanied by two poached eggs, generously drizzled with hollandaise sauce, all resting on a bed of sautéed spinach and mushrooms. The culinary experience was further enhanced by a well-crafted flat white coffee, served piping hot.
While the flavors were undeniably delicious, I noted a slight omission of bread options in the main meals, which, though a minor observation, would have added another layer to the dining experience. The ambiance was lively and vibrant, with artistic accents adorning one of the walls, creating a visually appealing setting.
However, the ambient noise level was a bit high, affecting the overall dining atmosphere. Despite this, the pricing was reasonable, making the overall experience at “Sapore Espresso Bar” satisfactory. The attentive service and culinary highlights make it a commendable choice for those seeking a flavorful breakfast in a bustling environment.
