My wife and I recently visited Tao Café Innaloo for a late lunch / early dinner and was pleasantly surprised. We had just been to an afternoon viewing of a movie at the local cinema and it was our first visit to Tao Café. As it was just after 3PM, there were plenty of tables available and free parking.
We viewed the menu which offered a good selection of Japanese, Thai and Vietnamese options. When it looked like we were ready to order, one of the staff approached our table and asked if she could take our order. The wife was going to stick to her favourite restaurant meal, Pho. Having recently been on holiday in Japan, I was interested in seeing how the local version of Japanese compared. I spotted an interesting meal in the menu and ordered the item adjacent to the image.
After our order was taken, we then noticed our table number sign included a QR code and a message saying, ‘Scan to order.’ So many venues these days require you to use an app to place an order. If I wanted to use an app to order a meal, I could have done that from home. I which case, I wouldn’t have bothered and would just go to the fridge instead. A big plus for Tao Café staff for the personal service provided.
Our meals were soon delivered to our table by TAO Café staff and not by some robot carrying trays with meals. The wife received her enormous Pho Tai Bo Vien. It contained lots of beef which is just how she likes it. It was so filling; she couldn’t eat all her meal.
I was a bit puzzled when I received my Mixed Tempura. It didn’t look anything like the image in the menu. That was all my mistake, I had been looking at the image of the Mixed Sushi Bento Box. However, the tempura was fine. Nice and crunchy and not soggy at all. Overall, the meal sizes were generous, tasty and reasonably priced.
There were more surprises awaiting us when we went to pay. They didn’t add any additional surcharges. It was a Saturday of a long weekend, so I expected to get wacked for that. And there was no surcharge for using a card for payment. Absolutely amazed.
We will definitely go back to Tao Café Innaloo if the occasion arises. There are plenty of other options on the menu we would like to try. Thank you for an...

I've been going to Tao, Innaloo for many many years now.
We ordered a VEGETARIAN LAKSA only to find shrimp in it. Our reaction was to politely call the staff and return the dish (untouched) and on being asked if we want another dish we refused and continued to consume sushi and other things we ordered.
When it came time to pay the bill, we requested for the Laksa to be removed from our bill. The manager tells us that the menu didnt specify it was a VEGAN dish and it was our fault. When we tried to explain to her that we ordered a VEGETARIAN dish assuming it will be well, VEGETARIAN, she continues to argue about the semantics of VEGAN and VEGETARIAN and blatantly saying we are WRONG and the dish is NOT VEGAN.
Without raising my voice and being polite throughout the discussion, we pretty much failed to convince her and after her tone continued to get more and more aggressive, we simply paid the entire bill.
And as I am paying the bill, she continues to go about how WE DONT KNOW WHAT WE ARE TALKING ABOUT AND ARE WRONG. I pay the bill and tell her to stop being rude. Her response as I am walking out is to say "MAYBE YOU ARE NEW TO AUSTRALIA AND DONT KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING".
Forget the fact that they're in the hospitality industry or that I am a long time customer, maybe it was a misunderstanding between us and the wait staff. How is a restaurant supposed to act if someone who is a VEGETARIAN gets a dish with SHRIMP in it? A polite refusal was too much to ask I guess.
I hope it was worth not only refusing to remove the dish from the bill but actively DISRESPECTING people.

Read moreTao Cafe of the standard sushi train,
Innaloo Tao Cafe has failed to provide where its siblings do not; variety, service and quality.
The establishment's variety of dishes are present but minimal in comparison to other Tao Cafe restaurants.
There are plenty of costumers and the establishment has ample size to accommodate its massive foot traffic but unfortunately the staff isnt sufficient enough to accommodate this; you will be served but it will be awhile until you are served by another waiter/waitress during your time at the restaurant.
Unfortunately during my recent time at Tao Cafe Innaloo, I experienced indigestion which lasted three days; so be wary on what you consume at the restaurant, regardless if it seems okay to eat.
The restaurant does have some positive aspects; It is a clean establishment with friendly staff, ample outside parking and respectable business hours.
Unfortunately to some customers, the price range might not be to their budget or preference; however, in comparison to other establishments and Tao Cafe restaurants, the price range is as expected; I would recommend avoiding dessert dishes if you are looking for value for your dollar.
I hope you enjoyed this review and that it has assisted you with your queries.
