Dropped in for a steak, chose the 300gm Stirling range Scotch Fillet $48.00. Unfortunately picked Quiz Wednesday so got quite busy and noisy. I arrived about 6.15 when quite quiet, checked the menu and ordered the steak at 6.30, (checked time on My Wallet on IPhone.) I was alone so only 1 dish on the order. Meal arrived at 7.05pm (35 minutes,) which I thought was a bit long and by that time the place was very full , presumably for the quiz. Looked for salt & pepper but no where to be found so one has to trust their seasoning which wasn’t too bad. After first bite a staff member enquired about meal, (a bit too soon I thought,) I indicated a bit too soon to comment but steak was a bit chewey. He said sorry and moved on which I thought was a bit ordinary. The meal was horrible! Steak was overcooked, very dry and chewey and not tender at all. Cut very thin, (just like a Coles/Woolies supermarket thin cut steak.) not good. I suspect it was not 300gms but did not have scales so???? Reasonable size but thinly cut so hard to tell but not ideal. Salad was basically leaves with a bit of dressing and not enough to support the meal. The “pepper sauce” was totally lacking in pepper and more like a mild gravey, no flavour. Chips were good but too many, reduce chips and enhance salad. This was my third visit to this venue. First was just after they opened and the steak with a truffle infused side salad was very good. Thicker cut and better cooked. Second visit about 2 months ago, not much better than today and thought I had left a review, but unable to locate.I only review if very pleased or very unhappy.. Was not very happy. Anyway, expressed my views to a staff member who wanted to offer me something. I rejected this offer as I told him my feedback was not to seek something in return but to provide genuine feedback. In conclusion, this venue is part of a big group. I hope they will think about their offering as I have a number of other comment, but in brief, I feel they charge the most for the least effort. Not impressed. Hope the local community...

Priciest pub on the strip now, but the Tues night steak special wasn't bad. We were long time locals at Scotto before it became the Elford. We have tried it twice since it's been done up. It's lost it's personal atmosphere and the drink prices are way too expensive so I doubt we'll be back for that reason. However, the $20 Tuesday steak special was reasonably good value. Steak was cooked exactly as ordered, and was tender enough considering it was rump. Sauce was disappointing - it only comes with peppercorn sauce, but they really scrimped on that. Chips were quite good, token salad was just green leaves with two slices of radish, but the dressing was actually nice. Optional prawns added to the steak were delicious. We sat outside, but despite being a 37C day in Perth (still that hot at 5pm) the misters weren't on. Overall a bit of a disappointment for us. On our first visit a few months ago, we found the inside decor boring, music too loud and meals small for the prices. Staff are really friendly and helpful, but I don't think that's enough to...

The Elford is finally finding its soul. After having revamped from The Flying Scotsman - which had character in spades, The Elford started life as a silver and mirrors barn of an eatery. With a restructure of the floor, putting more high tables and drink / socialising areas and reducing the amount of low, school dinner hall type tables we (ie you!) are getting there !!.. Watched the Grand final there yesterday. No need for a ridiculous flat fee 'allegedly' 'bottomless' drinks - which we all know are a total rip off as the you have to wait for table service, which is massively frustrating (never enough staff and they are all on go slow or MIA in order to maximise venue profits!!). We just booked and rocked up. With about 16 tap beers, a great wine selection and value for money food (rare these days in Perth as portions seem to be getting smaller and prices higher). Ill come back again - which is my highest compliment. Like most thing however, consistency is key - so keep up with the quality and VFM and my review will...

Okay...first visit since it was the Flying Scotsman. And it's a mixed bag. The venue has changed the warm, welcoming British pub ambience for something more clinical in its approach. It may as well have been a Swedish Airport. Not necessarily a bad thing, but for an Australian? The Staff were welcoming and helpful, that's a plus. And didn't look down their nose at me for my Plebian taste in Beer. The Menu was decent, nothing extraordinary. No Fish&Chips and the Pizza didn't excite, so I had the Waygu Burger for $26. Once again, my age plays against me. I remember you could feed a Family of four for that kind of money. Bit at least it was good, decently proportioned and well cooked. The chips were hot and properly cooked as well. Though the dab of aioli dolloped into the corner of the plate was different. Not necessarily in a Good way. So will I be back? Probably. Will I recommend it it? Indeed. But if you were expect more from a Gourmet pub, you may end up being disappointed.
