Disappointing experience. The service was generally excellent except we asked for it all to come out quite slowly and yet it still felt a bit rushed. I'll work quickly through the food which was pretty bad and over priced. We started with the ham and bread which was very basic for 30 bucks, to compare 30 bucks will normally get you some butter or olive oil and balsamic with the bread, probably even some cheese. The croquettes were pretty standard, then the cauliflower was excellent and reminded me of the old Hummus Club in Perth. Going on then to the larger tapas the beef was good. Lastly we were really excited by the paella dish and with only four things on the larger tapas dish I imagine it is what most groups order. The dish was really over cooked, but to be honest even if it wasn't there were some issues. It does mention pasta on the dish but I think when most people see the word paella they conjure up imagines of the flavoursome yellow rice, this dish was some awful thing like egg noodle or something. You can see the pretty instagram pictures other people have posted of it, these pictures will show you that for your $40 dollars you are getting four prawns and four mussels (one of ours was closed) and some measly chopped up squid throughout the dish. Was grateful we got our money back for that dish. The desert menu had two option a creme caramel dish and an almond frangipane, nothing for either of us there. To finish on a positive note and give you a little tip, the red wine by the glass is on a seperate page to the by bottle section. Yet the by the glass section has a bottle option. At the top of that list is a 2020 bottle of grenache that is excellent at $50. I love to see family restaurants do well, I wish them all the best and hope they make some...
Read moreI am actually sad because I had such high hopes for the restaurant as I lived in Barcelona and miss the food, I was told the date was going to be busy beforehand and that will be some paella for all the costumers as it was their anniversary so I confirmed my booking as I wouldn't mind the party. The food is very good and very authentic, portions as expected for tapas are extremely small for the price, but I have been in Pinchos and its pretty much the same price, even though my friends were not happy with the size. The problem came when they serve the dish one by one every 20 min as we were 4 people starving and having a little piece of food every time, we patiently waited for each dish but at the end there was one missing and when I asked, they mentioned we already ate it, have in mind we ordered more than 200AUD in food, we would never lie about eating a 18AUD plate but it was very rude as when I said maybe they gave it to someone else but not us for sure they replied "was a possibility", we do not enjoyed to be called starving liars and at the end we were the only table not getting the paella. Honestly, I would never go back even though the food is good, the service is absolutely deficient far away from the warm...
Read moreSo reason you can’t find a menu online is because their menu changes. I believe , weekly. This place was recommended by a friend so we decided to randomly show up. Plenty of parking. Wheelchair accessible. Service was perfect throughout the night and staff are really nice and friendly. Very welcoming. 3 of us decided to chose dish each and somehow ended up with 7 dishes. Also had a bottle of red. The wine was sooo easy to drink. Delicious. Each dish was great. Love the rustic feel of tomato bread one. But I love finger food so for me that was enjoyable. My partner and I both agree that yours were the best petals bravas we had. Even when we were in Spain. Forgot to snap ossobuco which was big. Size and flavour. By the end we were truly full. I couldn’t even contemplate a dessert. Great find. Will definitely be back. I hope you guys...
