When ordering takeaway, I asked if the oysters were fresh and told they were and were the same as the deli. While waiting for my order I saw the employee grab oysters and mussels out of the freezer and straight into the microwave on high for 1min. I was very surprised given the price and fresh stock is on hand meters away. Prior to cooking, I asked to see the oysters and he showed me 3 of them. 60% of oysters were microwaved cooked, shriveled, dried and tiny. I asked not to have that those ones . I also asked if I could have some fresh ones in the window of the shop and he said I will have to buy them. When I got home 6 oysters were not packaged! One of the oysters smelt so bad I threw it out along with most of the mussels as half of them were rock hard and inedible. This was due to being microwaved, simple.
When I reached out to WestnFresh he was aggogant, wouldn't answer if this cooking method was business practise and really didn't care. At one stage when I asked what message was left for the the manger of business to contact me, stating, "you wouldn't want to know what they wrote" supported by a laugh. His email was signed Toney and his number where we communicated.
Very disappointing and we won't be returning or recommend. Prices definitely reflect fresh, cooking process was a let down but most of all the way I was treated from the employee when I asked for...
Read moreWe had plans to cook Vongale and I asked the young girl if the clams had been purged. She looked confused so went to ask. She returned and asked what I meantâŚthen went back to ask again. That alone should have been enough to alert us to a problem with this business as she still looked confused. I decided the best option was a whole fish. I selected what looked like a nice red snapper. This time I asked for fins to be cut, with head removed so I could make stock. What I got was a fish with wings removed and kept by the storeâŚ.fins still on. But I did get the head. They are either dishonest or very incompetent. I paid for a whole fish and the wings are part of the fish needed to stuff it with flavouring and packed with flesh. They clearly donât know what they are doing. Put all this aside and you will find prices for prepared fillets very high. They are most definitely not fresh and sit on display, grey and dry. Ever wondered what is in your fish and chips??? Save your money, go to Sealanes in Freo or at worst the supermarkets. Iâve always found staff at Coles very good. They at least know what they are selling and have a refund policy if your not satisfied, which I was most...
Read moreWe have eaten the fish and chips from here before and enjoyed it, so we thought we would be safe to go back for another meal - big mistake! Food was over priced, and tasted terrible. The fish was obviously defrosted from frozen in a microwave before cooking it to death, so dry. The rest of the meal was almost inedible, fried to within an inch of its life. The grilled piece of fish was so dry that it had to be thrown out, as was some of the battered fish. It would be a good idea to have a mature responsible adult controlling the children running the shop. They were yelling at each other to answer the phone, or get more fish out of the freezer - it was like standing in a school playground! The owners of the business obviously don't care if these kids ruin whatever is left of the reputation of this shop. I waited 45 minutes for my food - there were only 4 people before me! 10 / 10 would not recommend, we will never go back, and we will make sure none of our friends go there as well. If I could give no stars, even that would...
