Going to this place is like going back to the 50s. Not the good parts of the 50s, with dirt cheap houses and friendly face to face chats. More like the bad parts, like the racist attitudes and the culture of beating your mrs after a hard day at work.
When me and my friends arrived for a casual beer and a change of scenary we were treated like illegal iimmigrants who'd just arrived on a leaky boat in darwin on a sunny afternoon. I could tell Staff and patrons alike were not happy with some young whippersnappers cramping their style.
When we tried to pay for a beer with card they openly mocked us at having the nerve to not pay with cash. Like we were stupid for not paying $37 or whatever the ridiculous amount it is to withdraw my own money. They did this every time, somehow thinking that after the 4th purchase we had decided to change our minds.
I did not feel welcome there at all. The place was not like the fantastic bowlos and rsl's of illawarras northern suburbs where you can have a yarn and laugh with the locals guilt...

These guys have lifted not only the quality of the food but also made it a much more pleasurable experience. Very warm and accomodating of all requests.
