If you are looking for a restaurant that serves delicious fresh food, fast and polite service, and a cozy and warm atmosphere, The Palisade Kitchen and Bar is the venue to dine at!
Quite recently, my family and I had booked dinner at this venue to celebrate a birthday. We approached the front door and were greeted by the manager Patrick at the front counter who greeted us with a warm welcome and a positive attitude.
As this was a special occasion, instead of sitting us down at the table we had initially booked, Patrick decided to sit us down on one of the extremely comfy blue booths located on the left of the restaurant. He then provided us with menus and (at our request) sparkling water.
After that, we were approached by a waitress who had lovely manners and took our drinks and food orders. As we were beginning our night with entrees ( which were delectable), the waitress took the extra step of providing us with side plates and tongs to facilitate the distribution of food to each member of the table. In addition, she also made sure we had the appropriate cutlery, enough drinks and water to ensure we were satisfied with the service so far.
For entrees, we chose the soft, crispy zucchini fritters, the tender lobster rolls, the crispy oven baked sourdough bread, and the sweet and delicate goat cheese with crunchy honeycomb.
All just Sublime.
After the entrees had concluded, We had moved on to mains. As 3 out of the 4 family members had the succulent, robust, and full bodied scotch fillet, the Waitress provided steak knives before the food came out to ensure we could easily cut through the meat. The other family member had the silky smooth confit duck.
All of the mains exceeded expectations in taste and portion size, and were a pleasure to eat. (The onion rings that came with the steaks were awesome too!).
The final round of food was dessert. We all ordered different ones to try but Patrick provided a complementary one on him to the birthday girl which we did not expect!
That was such a kind and thoughtful gesture.
The desserts we had ordered that night were the Deep fried ice cream, Lemonciello Tiramisu, The Raspberry Mousse, and the Chocolate Fondant.
All had unique textures and extraordinarily great flavours which were all just exquisite.
Finally, We were then thanked by Patrick for attending the venue and he mentioned that he would love for us to comeback anytime so that the Palisade team can look after us again.
To conclude this review:
On a personal level, I always love how waiters/waitresses go above and beyond, taking the initiative to ensure customers are happy and have what they need at all time during service. The Palisade team did exactly that through their constant work ethic throughout the night and their eye for detail aiding them in looking after the customers needs.
Unfortunately in the Moderna era of the hospitality industry, Not a lot of venues have Table Service or Staff that address customers with manners. There is a lack of care across the board. However, in light of this, there will always be certain individuals who manage and own venues who have a passion for service and will dedicate their time and efforts to ensure the customer is satisfied with their experience by going above and beyond.
I saw this dedication and effort at this restaurant, which leaves me to say that the Palisade Kitchen and Bar is the Beacon of hope for others to be inspired by.
I would like to extend my gratitude to that waitress and Patrick who looked after us that night.

Read moreChoosing Palisade Kitchen & Bar for our dinner reception was one of the best decisions we made for our DIY wedding in early July.
Food: We ordered the shared set menu (which had just been launched at the time) for our group of 16 people. It was definitely well worth our money. Everything was perfect – from the starters (torched burrata & pickled pear, prawn & lobster brioche rolls, beef tartare & smoked bone marrow, seared scallops & charred miso eggplant) to the mains (barramundi with xo sauce, slow cooked lamb shoulder and stuffed zucchini flowers), as well as the sides (salad, chips, green beans) and the dessert (limoncello tiramisu). Palisade also catered to our guests with dietary restrictions. There was so much food we couldn't finish them all.
Service: They went above and beyond our expectations and really made our small wedding reception extra special. Since we had a reservation for 16 pax, Palisade allowed us to start our event one hour earlier than their usual dinner service. When our family dropped off our DIY decorations two hours before the event, the team already had the tables ready, and even assisted with the table arrangements. We were also provided with a dedicated server, who made sure that we were well taken care of throughout the night. Special mention as well to Tyler, who handled our reservation, accurately relayed our special requests and made sure everything went smoothly on the day proper.
Atmosphere: The restaurant has a nice view of North Wollongong Beach. We were able to reserve the farthest section of the restaurant with curtains drawn, which gave our reception an exclusive feel. The photos speak for themselves.

Read moreWe had dinner on a Saturday night in Winter. The restaurant was quite full, I was surprised. The place has been tastefully redecorated, the bar looked nice as did the plush blue booths. The greeting on arrival could have been better & more cheerful as we stood there for a while until the girl lifted her head to greet us & there was no smile. We were seated by the window, we found it a bit cold & I did note on my on line reservation I wanted to be seated in a warm spot as my husband has an aversion to cold which sees me listening to complaints all evening, next to uncovered windows in Winter is cold. Anyway, the menu warmed us up, the choices were inspiring & we loved the prawn & lobster tail roll. I had the beef cheek rendang which was to die for & my husband had the wild mushroom gnocchi. I had a brilliant glass of Prosecco and the wine was good. I indulged in biscoff cheesecake which was nice but unappealing looking on the plate - a half biscoff biscuit placed on top or maybe some biscoff crumb topped with a raspberry may have made the plate more delightful to the eye. The service was very good. We are locals & will be back & I hope to give 5 stars next visit. This is certainly a place I would take visitors to for fine dining. We noted the outdoor area looked lovely for a Summer breakfast and of course nice views...
