Came there yesterday at about 10:30 am with our friends as we invited them to join us to try this cafe. Our friends told us they will be running late (they live in Sydney CBD) so we started ordering our food as the kids wanted to eat, btw no one asked us about checking in with the QR code as we enter but me and my wife checked in anyway as we just assume everyone is busy. Few minutes later, our friends arrived and we advised them to order their food as the place is getting busier. The short caucasian lady receptionist who have long ponytailed brown hair (or perhaps partly owns the place the way she communicated with our friends) asked them to sign in with the QR code which is the right thing to do, they also gave them floru green stickers to identify that they have checked-in (no one apart from my friends have been given a sticker at that time as I have asked almost everyone outside and inside the cafe-cctv can prove this for sure). After they have signed in, the same lady asked my friends if they are dining in with others, my friend said yes and that they are joining us at the outside table. This staff then asked my friends to show her that everyone including us outside who already finished eating our food, our QR code check in on our phones otherwise she would not let our friends order food. Our very confused Asian friends came back to our table and told us that they cannot order food unless we give her our phone to show our check in to the receptionist. We thought she was joking so we all laughed and told her to go back and get her food and that if our friend is telling the truth that she is not allowed to order, the staff demanding to see our QR code check in would have approached our table to politely ask if we have all checked in and if she could see it so my friends will be allowed to order cafe food lol. So my friends went to try order food again but this time she came back to us teary as she said she had another encounter with this lady and that she was very rude to them, arrogant and have embarrased them in front of her colleagues and patrons inside demanding to get everyone to the reception show the staff our phones if we have really checked-in which blew our minds as the staff said to her that she just doesn't TRUST our friend's words (this statement also made us laugh at the same time) Our friends including us are all frontline workers who are just trying to enjoy our little extended weekend before we go back to our daily grind fighting this pandemic but this ruthless staff who could have just let my friends go to the counter to order their food as my friends HAVE ALREADY CHECKED-IN in the first place was stopped and controlled and have ruined it all. I have approached this same staff member asking for some clarity about her demands but instead of communicating effectively to a paying customer in an attempting to de-escalate the situation, she remained very rude and unless we show her what she is demanding for, we could...
Read moreDon’t even bother. Worst service ever. I booked 3 days in advance an outdoor alfresco table for 2 adults, advising we had pet dogs. The booking was confirmed via email. We live 5 hours away & came for a romantic weekend. When we arrived they had us seated indoors, (where dogs can’t go). They said they were sorry for the mix up but blamed it on the owner who lives in Bali that takes the bookings via email. The young manager said he would try and find us a table outdoors but “most tables seat 8 people and bookings for 2 people aren’t very important”. He got us a small table by the stairs (not water front) because some random had just left. Another waiter promised the next available waterfront table would be for us but instead they gave it to a walk in (2 adults and a child). We ordered a $40 bottle of wine and received the public holiday surcharge of $4 on top. My husband told them it was a regular Saturday and not a public holiday but was told, too bad that’s the price. Ordered the salt & pepper squid, $35, loads of overcooked chips, store bought aioli in a packet, not much squid. Walked back to our hotel and saw many nicer cafes/restaurants that may not have water views but certainly more welcoming to us and our dogs. Would not recommend this establishment to couples wanting a relaxing time or to...
Read moreWe visited on Anzac day and it was super busy. Its delightful to sit by the beach and the food cam out super fast. Perfectly cooked fish and chips. You order at the counter and the service was a tad slow at first. Staff kept looking at me standing there and walking away. This was down to how busy it was though which is why Im still giving 4 stars. Some of the drinks we ordered were alcoholic and there was a real disconnect between who could serve them and they took forever to come to the table i needed to chase them a few times. The team didn’t seem to have a record of where they were going. But they were all lovely and apologetic and just trying their best on a really busy day. I totes recommend this beautiful place right on the beach next time Im getting cake and coffee the cake display had a...
