I had the worst experience ever at the Green Ivy Cafe. I have never had to leave a bad review and this is my first unfortunately. After 40 minutes of patiently waiting for the meals I ordered, I asked the staff very calmly and in a polite manner when my meal was coming. I was told another three separate occasions that my meal was coming and that they were very busy. I gave them the benefit of doubt and continued to patiently wait. I work in the hospitality industry and I understand when there can be delays. But after nearly an hour and 30 minutes of waiting and enquiring, I got fed up and went to the counter to see what was happening. Staff said that the meal had gone out and that there was nothing they could do. I had to ask how they were going to fix this, and it seemed like they werenāt willing to do anything about it. The staff weren't even willing to own up to their own mistake of having served the meal to someone else when clearly I had never received it. I even had my own table number when other tables had none, and they couldnāt get this simple order right. One of their waiters was even accusing me by saying, "How do we know you havenāt already eaten it?" Another staff member also commented, "Well, somebody got a free meal." That was the moment when Iād had enough and lost my appetite. I demanded a refund of the meals I never received. After arguing back and forth, they reluctantly issued the refund cos they knew they were wrong. If you are thinking of doing a small, medium, or large booking, donāt be fooled by the large size of the cafe, because clearly it seems that they cannot handle bookings and do a really poor job of managing when they make mistakes. Theyāve even targeted our children when the issue had nothing to with it. No one was apologising on our behalf because why would we be apologising for not having received our meals. Especially when we were being courteous in the hopes of receiving our meals. Do yourself a favour and look elsewhere. There are many great cafes in Young, and this certainly isnāt one of them. If I could give this cafe Zero stars, I would. We will gladly never be back s at the Green Ivy cafe again, no one deserves to be treated the way they treated me and my family. Unfortunately for Young, this cafe is a really bad example of management with...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreStopped en route from Bathurst to Gundagai. What a fabulous establishment. Early January, hot day with a baby in tow. Lots of options for seating, inside in an old historic building, on the cool verandah or out on the patio under the shade umbrellas. Quick, easy service with a great range on the menu. Personally I donāt make a habit of eating seafood any further than 50km from the sea but Iām so glad I did here with the garlic prawn salad. Clean modern toilets with a change table located in the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe staff are lovely and the atmosphere is serene. We arrived just when the kitchen was closing at 2pm. The kitchen staff agreed to stay open to accommodate us. While there aren't many options for vegans they will gladly alter their menu to accommodate. The food was also really tasty. The courtyard is great with lots of greenery and shaded areas to sit. However there are...
