Kulturgasthaus Eschenlaube — Restaurant in Graz

Cozy and cool place to sit outside and enjoy the evening, but totally understaffed in service and kitchen. The service is so stressed that they have minimal time and attention for the customers. The waitress was nice but just had too much to do. The meals aren't cheap, so maybe the concept should be reconsidered. We waited 10 minutes to order drinks, another ten or 15 for them to be served (they didn't come all at the same time) and over an hour for the food. The last person got their meal 15 minutes after the first, so it was hardly possible for everyone to eat together. We ordered more drinks, but they never came. Waited 20 minutes to get the check. Goulash was good, salads were okay, clay chicken was heavily oversalted and tasted like inexpensive Chinese takeout...

Good traditional dishes. Very good schnitzel with potatoe salad. One of the best I had in Graz. The specials are often not so good. The French fish soup was extremely salty and the seasoning was not good.

It's annoying that you have to walk through the smoking area to reach the job smoking area.

No parking spots.

Ambient and style is nice. Staff is friendly...

I used to think the food was great, though the time before last everyone at our table who had the salad got food poisoning. Eschenlaube is the only place in the developed world that managed to give me food poisoning. Stick to hot food and you should be fine.
