Professional staff. Exceptional service. Excellent conditions.
Staff
The staff was polite and professional. Although my husband and I speak little to no German, we had no trouble communicating with everyone from receptionists to restaurant staff. Everyone was nice and ready to help.
Service
The rooms were cleaned every day, but the hotel offered you the chance to contribute to their sustainability efforts by choosing to skip cleaning services for a day, in exchange for a discount voucher at the hotel bar. All you had to do was hang a "do not clean my room today" sign outside your door, and someone would deliver the vocher to your room.
Room
The room was great. Clean and spacious. Everything worked as intended. It had a smart AC system that automatically turned on and off depending on whether the window was closed or open.
We had a very comfortable king-size bed and slept like babies. There were also a comfy armchair and a large desk in the room, besides the usual closet and entrance furniture.
The bathroom was spacious, with a bathtub/shower and plenty of room for toiletries on and around the sink. The mirror was smart, which means it didn't fog when you took a shower or bath, however long that took. The vent fan was silent and discretely placed, so you could hardly hear it whenever you were in the bathroom, even during the night.
All appliances worked. The drains weren't clogged, the water pressure was strong, the temperature easily adjustable. There was a professional hair dryer, the kind that you would normally find in a hairdresser salon, not a hotel. My hair was dry in five minutes.
The hotel must be very well insulated because you could hardly hear any noise coming from the neighboring rooms or from outside once you closed the windows. There was a children's tennis tournament in the park next to the hotel and we didn't hear any of the cheers and whistles.
We had a fully stacked mini fridge, a coffee machine with several complimentary coffee, as well as complimentary tea bags.
Location
The hotel is located very close to the city center. It's about a five-minute walk to the Graz Cathedral, and about a ten-minute walk to the Rathaus or the art museum. From there you can take the bus or the tram to pretty much any corner of the town.
Parking
There's a massive underground parking available. It doesn't belong to the hotel, so you can park anywhere inside, but it has an area close to a stairwell that takes you out straight to the...
Read moreAs a GHA Titanium member as well as Marriott Titanium & IHG Diamond I did have some moderate expectation of this 4-star hotel... Unfortunately a lot of them got unfulfilled. The Phillipino front desk staff could be described as being "cold" at best: when I went to check in around 12 pm she bluntly told me "your room is not ready yet", without smile, without courtesy, and without care. And when I asked to leave my luggage she directly told me "you need to bring this luggage ticket back"... Come on I am not a 5-year-old and there were countless times I accidentally dropped my luggage tag but got my luggages back thanks to the responsible staff of other hotels, and couldn't you also do it in an easy manner to keep your guest comfortable? Fortunately the other staff I encountered are relatively more cordial. The room is okay and I did receive my upgrade but... I found no ironing board, iron, or bottle water in the room, which should be the standard provisions of a hotel like this. When I asked for them, the staff brought me a... completely wet ironing board soaked like a piece of rug. As for the bottle water, I was told that they are not free and the price is ridiculously 7 euro for a large bottle of sparkling water. I really could not believe in 2023, a hotel in the same rank as Courtyard or Holiday Inn could not even offer its guest complimentary bottle water! Even your colleagues under the same NH brand in Trieste prepared a large bottle of Acqua Panna for me in the room a couple of days ago. That is simply absurd, not to mention the tap water of Graz is the bitterest I've ever tasted. Lastly, I borrowed a charger from the hotel to charge my phone (which was directly delivered to my room), and when I am checking out, the same Phillipino staff told me "you need to bring it back because there is a 15 euro deposit for it"... Honestly, I cannot believe you do not know in other hotels the housekeeping staff would simply recycle the borrowed items without disturbing their clients. I really lost my patience and told her to do that herself, and fortunately she did not bring me more annoyance. In all, this is a 4-star hotel with 4-star equipment but 2-star service. I do not want to be mean, but you should at least fulfill some basic service requirements as your colleagues and...
Read moreNice, modern and new looking hotel in an extremely good location for exploring the city. The car parking garage is not just for the hotel but is conveniently located right next door to it although you can not access the hotel directly from it. The full price is something like €48 a day but the hotel offers it at a discount of €25. This is a full day charge and you can not pay for a day and a half for example. The staff are very professional but extremely friendly and helpful. Their recommends for restaurants are all good but generally you can not go wrong in the city. The room is large with a large but firm bed, crisp cotton sheets which was a nice change from the warm ones offered at a lot of places at this time of year. There is a small fridge in the room. The air con was working and was very efficient which was good as we were on quite a low floor which was in line with a plaza at the back of the hotel so you would not have been able to open a window if it were too warm at night and we sort of felt that we had to have the curtains closed at all times. If staying ask for a floor higher than 2. That being said, the Hotel was in a very quiet area and we had no problem with noise from outside. The hotel offered a programme where if you did not require housekeeping they gave you a voucher for a free drink at the bar, we were only staying 2 nights and usually do not require this so it was a nice gesture. We only had breakfast the one day as we were in a bit of a rush to leave the hotel, the other day we just walked into town to a local bakery but these are not on the doorstep so it is fine if you are going into town anyway. We felt the breakfast at the hotel was a bit over priced for what it offered, at €22 each it was the most we had paid on our 5 week touring holiday. Overall, I would highly recommend the hotel for a night or two stay...
