Grammophon — Restaurant in Graz

If I could give them 3 1/2 stars I would do that. Unfortunately, Google only allows whole-star ratings. My friend, with whom I attended the restaurant last week, said to give them 4 stars. Thus, 3 and 1/2 would be a compromise.

Overall, I had a fairly good experience here! I would absolutely eat here again in the future. There are no glaring errors or grievances that would discourage me from returning here.

I guess I'll start with the general feel of the place. The decor on the inside is very unique! In the first place, it's not very well-lit. Let me clarify that. To say that it's not very well-lit suggests that it's dark. That's not true at all. It's that the lighting is very low and intimate! So if you'd be looking for an experience that is illuminated, this would not be the place for you.

But I think for the person or individuals or couple who would want a more intimate and less travelled place, one off the beaten path, this would be a great find! We went on a Friday evening, I believe, and it was very easy to sit. There was no long wait to get a table. I'm not sure where everyone would have been on a Friday night, but it was not busy to our advantage!

What you will find in the videos and photos I uploaded is that the title of the restaurant reflects the interior's decor! There are LPs and various photographs and such scared about the whole restaurant / bar areas. The restroom area was also pretty unique! You'll find a lot more lighting in that area. lol There is a very interesting grunge and graffiti decor written all over the walls. That was also a very cool find!

I guess if there is one thing that I had a minor grievance with, it would have been the dough of the pizza. I guess it's "bar pizza" and not "restaurant pizza?" I'm not sure if that makes sense, but it's the only way I can articulate the matter. It's not really a complaint, per se; yet, I have to be honest in this review as I always am in all of my reviews. Even though I enjoyed the very thin nature of the crust, it left something to be desired.

The doe had no real flavour to it, nor did it have any kind of real consistency. It was kind of like eating salted cardboard or something of the sort. I think it was a cheapish version to save money. This would have been the thing that resulted in my giving them three stars as opposed to four stars the way my friends suggested. Again: THAT WAS NOT AT ALL A COMPLAINT. It was...a minor grievance. As I stated in the beginning, I would eat there again!

The final thing I'd like to discuss is the great service I received! Our wonderful server, Marten, was excellent! Not only was he very affable and friendly, and spoke great English, he was very easy on the eyes. I told him at least twice period! Lol

I would be remiss if I did not mention the low cost of the food! For what we paid, we ordered an extra large pie that came with four toppings! That would be unheard of in the United States. We were both very happy considering the fact that my friend ordered a beer with the pizza.

Nachtrag (07.10.2022): Leider muss ich meine sehr gute Bewertung vom Sommer 2022 grundlegend ändern. Ich weiß gar nicht, wo ich anfangen soll - die Preise sind heftig gestiegen, dafür hat aber die Qualität enorm abgenommen. So zahlt man für einen großen Salat mittlerweile € 8,90 - nur leider ist die Portion nachweislich (mittels Fotos belegbar) sicher um ein Drittel geringer geworden. Und Salat kann man es mittlerweile auch nicht mehr nennen. Ein riesiger Brocken von einem Thunfisch versteckt sich unter ein paar braunen Salatblättern. Nicht zu vergessen die bestellte Salami bestand aus 5 Stücken, welche aufeinander klebten. Das Dressing leider auch nur mehr fad. Auch die bestellte Pizza war nicht gut, einfach lieblos alles draufgeklatscht und total verbrannt. Mit jeweils zwei Getränken und noch einem kleinen Salat haben wir € 51,80 bezahlt. Für das Geld kann ich in ein gepflegtes Lokal gehen und bekomme dort eine TOP Qualität.

Nicht zu vergessen der mehr als lahme Service an dem Abend. Keine Begrüßung bei der Erstbestellung, lange Wartezeit auf die Getränke (waren vielleicht 10 Personen im Lokal) und auf ein erneutes Getränk mussten wir ewig warten bzw. selbst zur Bar gehen und dort bestellen.

Zum Abschluss wurde gegen 19:00 Uhr das Licht im Lokal so gedrosselt, das wir eigentlich nichts mehr gesehen haben - einfach nur lächerlich.

Schade, für uns war es das mit diesem Lokal - wir kommen definitiv nicht mehr wieder und werden auch die geplanten Treffen mit unseren Freunden wo anders feiern. Gibt ja genügend Alternativen in Graz.....

Diese Bewertung geht ganz klar an den sehr netten und wirklich sympathischen Kellner "Markus" - ich habe in vielen Jahren wirklich noch nie so eine sympathische Person getroffen. Er macht seinen Job wirklich sehr gern :) das merkt man auch.

Sobald Markus im Einsatz ist, gehen wir immer dorthin - da können sich die anderen Kellner (Montag, Dienstag) besonders am Abend (männlich) eine große Scheibe...
