It was a Sunday and things were pretty slow in Klagenfurt. The usual cafe bars and ice cream places were doing a lively trade. But I was hungry and I asked the receptionist at my hotel, what was open and she suggested this place. Set in a very large courtyard, I was soon attended by a very knowledgeable waiter who ordered me a beer and a menu. I ordered the Goulash made in beer with bread dumplings. It was superb. I also ordered bread and a light salad. She ain't cheap! Two beers a white wine cost 45 euros, but the setting and quality food made in worthwhile.

Äußerst gepflegte Traditionsgaststätte mit sehr gutem Angebot und ausgezeichnetem Service – beim Hauptgericht hatte ich wohl Pech Das Gasthaus im Landhaushof gehört zur P. Haas GmbH, die in Klagenfurt noch die Gaststätten „Zum Augustin“, „Café Domgassner“ sowie „Augustin in den City Arkaden“ betreibt und ein Lokal in Villach ihr Eigen nennt. Den Landhaushof findet man in bester Lage nur einen Steinwurf entfernt vom Lindwurmbrunnen und direkt neben dem Heiligengeistplatz, so dass man in alle Richtungen auch bequem mit den Öffentlichen fahren kann. Es empfiehlt sich, auch unter der Woche nicht nur abends zu reservieren, zumal das zweigängige Tagesmenü für unter 12 € zahlreiche Gäste anlockt. So versammeln sich hier zur Mittagszeit vor allem arbeitende, pensionierte und sonstige Einheimische jeden Alters, die dem gepflegten Ambiente entsprechen und für eine angenehme Atmosphäre sorgen. Die normale Karte bietet alle Gerichte, die zum Repertoire einer traditionellen Gaststätte gehören. Die Preise sind angemessen. Das gilt auch für die überdurchschnittliche Auswahl an offenen Weinen. Der Service hat bei mir vom Empfang bis zur Verabschiedung für einen sehr angenehmen Aufenthalt gesorgt, während dessen ich stets aufmerksam betreut und freundlich umsorgt worden bin. Als Vorspeise habe ich mich für die Bärlauchsuppe entschieden, die schon farblich einen bleibenden Eindruck hinterließ, der durch den kräftigen Geschmack bestätigt wurde. Zum Hauptgang hat sich die „Landhaus Variation“ aus drei Sorten Rindfleisch mit Cremespinat, Rösterdäpfel, Apfelkren, Schnittlauchsauce und frischem Semmelkren bei mir am Platz eingefunden. Ich habe fälschlich angenommen, der Semmelkren sei optional. Ich hätte darauf verzichtet, zumal es ja schon Rösterdäpfel gab, die mich aber auch nicht überzeugten. Obwohl teilweise sehr dunkel, waren sie eher ölig und weich als kross. In sehr guter Form präsentierten sich Cremespinat, Apfelkren und Schnittlauchsauce, wohingegen das Fleisch vollständig enttäuschte. Die Zunge hat sich keinesfalls als zart erwiesen, sondern so stramm, wie ich es bei dem Kaumuskel noch nicht erlebt habe. Auch der Tafelspitz und das Scherzel waren dermaßen hart, dass ich schon beim Schneiden und Kauen Probleme hatte. Dass gekochtes Rindfleisch nicht so saftig sein kann, wie ein blutiges Steak, steht außer Frage. Aber so zach wurde es mir noch nie serviert. Vielleicht hatte ich ja nur Pech oder falsche Vorstellungen. Andere Gäste am Nachbartisch schienen mit dem Fleisch recht zufrieden zu sein. Ich habe deshalb die Qualität vor Ort nicht bemängelt. Leider kann ich nach alledem nur drei Sterne vergeben. Auch wenn ich diesmal nicht vollkommen zufrieden war, würde ich hier wieder einkehren, aber vermutlich ein anderes Hauptgericht wählen.

Ai piedi del bel palazzo del Landhaus (Parlamento della Carinzia) nella pregevole location di questa piazzetta sorge questo ristorante che dispone anche di un dehor, proprio dove ci siamo accomodati. Il menù propone ottimi piatti tradizionali che possono vantare una materia prima di alto livello. Abbiamo optato per una Backhendsalat, cioè un’insalata preparata con lattuga, fagioli, pomodori, radicchio con bocconcini di pollo impanati con semi di zucca e girasole…ingredienti ottimi ed un bel piatto, gustoso che sazia e di grande leggerezza! Un Malzbiergulasch, cioè un gulasch marinato alla birra ed accompagnato con gnocco di pane (una sorta di canederlo trentino)…ottimo abbinamento, carne tenerissima e sapore delicato. Due piatti apparentemente pesanti, forse più invernali, ma che l’indomani non ci hanno creato alcun problema. Durante la cena abbiamo chiesto dei brezel ed il cameriere che ci ha serviti, un giovanissimo e gentile ragazzo che parlava anche un buon italiano, li ha fatti preparare per noi…arrivati al tavolo caldi, profumati e croccanti! Per finire la cena abbiamo condiviso un classico strudel di mele con crema calda id vaniglia…decisamente squisito! Da bere una bottiglia d’acqua (cl. 0,25: € 2,50) e due birre Gosser (€ 6,80), tradizionali bionde austriache. Conto di € 39,50 (in due), un eccellente rapporto qualità prezzo se confrontato alla location, al servizio attento e con tempi sempre giusti, alla qualità alta del cibo…. Un ambiente più raffinato rispetto ad una birreria o nostra trattoria, ma che risulta informale ed assolutamente rilassante. Una delle migliori esperienze in Carinzia!

Il 31 dicembre 2023 abbiamo deciso di festeggiare l'ultimo giorno dell'anno in questo ristorante con un gruppo di amici. Il locale ci ha accolto con un'atmosfera piacevole e un personale affabile, capace di comunicare sia in inglese che in italiano, un dettaglio che ha sicuramente facilitato la nostra esperienza. L'arredamento del locale è carino, contribuendo a creare un'atmosfera accogliente e rilassata. Il personale si è dimostrato simpatico e gentile fin dall'inizio, fornendo un servizio attento e cortese. Il menu, purtroppo, non è riuscito a soddisfare completamente le nostre aspettative. Tra i piatti ordinati, il pollo impanato è stato il più apprezzato, presentando un mix di croccantezza e sapore che ha conquistato i nostri palati. Tuttavia, gli altri piatti non sono riusciti a raggiungere lo stesso livello di eccellenza, lasciandoci con un leggero senso di delusione. Nonostante le aspettative non completamente soddisfatte per quanto riguarda il cibo, dobbiamo sottolineare che il conto è stato corretto. Il rapporto qualità-prezzo si è dimostrato equo, tenendo conto dell'esperienza complessiva. In conclusione, il pranzo al ristorante il 31 dicembre ha offerto un'esperienza altalenante. Mentre l'ambiente e il servizio erano positivi, il cibo ha lasciato un po' a desiderare, con l'eccezione del pollo impanato. Potrebbe essere una scelta accettabile per una serata informale, ma potrebbe non essere la destinazione ideale per chi cerca un'esperienza culinaria memorabile.

The restaurant is located in a beautiful place - in the city center, in the courtyard of a beautiful old building. The service is good, the dishes were cooked very quickly, although there were many visitors. But the food was disappointing - fine, but we expected better, especially after visiting other Austrian restaurants.

Very nice resturant, we had the boiled beef with sides which was really good and also pork. Both dishes were made to perfection. Hosts were great as well. The only problem I have was the salad we had wasn't great. Top part was fresh leaves the bottom was clearly old salad left in the marinate which wasn't nice.
