The Jack the Ripperl in Linz is a true hidden gem that serves up some of the most delectable and unique dishes I've ever had the pleasure of tasting. From their mouthwatering pulled pork nachos to their fall-off-the-bone BBQ pork ribs, every bite is an absolute delight.
The pulled pork nachos are an absolute standout - the tender, smoky pork is piled high on crisp tortilla chips and smothered in a rich, creamy cheese sauce. It's the perfect balance of savory and indulgent.
The BBQ pork ribs are equally impressive, cooked to perfection and glazed in a tangy, slightly sweet sauce that has just the right amount of kick. They practically melt in your mouth.
And for dessert, the apple strudel cheesecake and rum ice cream is an absolute revelation. The flaky, buttery strudel crust paired with the creamy, boozy ice cream is a flavor combination that will have you dreaming about it long after your meal.

Read more4 stars. TDLR version: burger was overpowered by rucola, potatoes were delicious, service was great.
Small BBQ ribs: 4.5 ⭐ tasty and the bone fell off easily the sauce was a little too sweet for my taste had better tho in terms of texture, flavour and aspect.
Jack bbq sauce: 4 ⭐ word of caution - it's very sweet. Delicious but sweet
Local Baked potatoes: 3 ⭐ a little hard almost feeling undercooked. very good taste even if the texture was strange
Ribs burger: 2 ⭐ Bun was soggy and not grilled pulled ribs meat was bland and chewy proportions were messed up. The burger was swimming in rucola and carrots and other random veggies. sauce would've probably been better if the bun was grilled
Fries: 5 ⭐ excellent. Nothing to comment, best dish we ordered.
Gravy: 5 ⭐ delicious, especially good when paired with fries.
Service: 5 ⭐ only comment is that we got a not so nice table next to the green fence and insects were sometimes bothering. Otherwise, service...
Read moreI recently grabbed dinner at Jack the Ripperl by the Taubenmarkt in Linz. The name hints at ribs—and wow, do they deliver. The moment I opened the menu, I realized this place is serious about ribs (they’ve been honing their craft since '74 in Upper Austria).
I dove into their BBQ ribs—tender, smoky, and nicely caramelized. Then I tried the Pulled Rip Burger, stacked with juicy rib meat, coleslaw, and melted cheddar—everything felt rich yet balanced. A side of crispy onion rings rounded it out perfectly.
Service was laid-back and friendly. They helped me choose size options and sauces without any fuss, and the pace was chill enough to relax.
This is comfort food done right—big flavors in a cozy, casual spot with heart. Jack the Ripperl is a must-visit in Linz for anyone who loves ribs done well. I can’t wait to go back for their monthly specials—those...
