I visited Stiegl-Klosterhof, a historic brewery-run tavern right on Linz’s main pedestrian street. The moment I stepped inside, the rustic charm hit me—dark wood interiors, vaulted ceilings, and a warm, inviting atmosphere that feels rooted in tradition.

I kicked things off with a crisp Wiener Schnitzel paired with potato-lamb lettuce salad—a classic take with heart. The Bier-Bratl was another standout: rich, succulent, and perfectly savory. Thirsty yet? The selection of Stiegl beers on tap tasted fresh and well-chosen.

The outdoor beer garden is a highlight—spacious, tree-lined, and perfect for relaxing with a drink in hand. It’s especially magical in the warmer months (and transformed in winter, according to locals).

Service was friendly, prompt, and personal—ideal for both quick stops and leisurely meals. It felt like stepping into a beloved local institution where people come for hearty food, genuine hospitality, and a taste of Linz tradition.

Stiegl-Klosterhof delivers cozy Austrian classics, a beautiful setting, and a relaxing vibe—perfect for anyone craving authentic flavors with a sense of place. I’ll...

Food was actually great, I had a Schnitzel and it came very quick.

The problem was the service, we had reserved a table for 3 about 2 hours before we turned up.

When we got there, the woman dealing with reservations seemed unsure of what to do with us, would have assumed if I have a confirmed reservation, the table would be ready.

After some confusion, went to a gentleman who was her colleague, larger man with glasses. He was very rude, started getting angry at me claiming I reserved only two hours before. I told him that’s really not my fault, if the table is not available the online reservation should simply reflect that and not let me reserve. He proceeded to give me attitude and was very unprofessional, as if he was doing me a favor. In the end, he said he is going to stop allowing people to book with short notice. Very strange encounter, either he does not understand how online reservation works or he simply has poor customer service experience.

Was disappointing, as apart from this, very beautiful Biergarten area...

The worst experience going to this restaurant. We saw reviews and they were very good for this restaurant. The service was horrible. We came and chose to sit in the table from where woman went and asked waitress if we can sit there, she answered rudely yes looking at us surprised do not know why, she didn't understand that she should clean table to sit there after asked her to clean she again looked at us rudely and said that they clean tables in queue and when this tables queue would come she would clean it. This was light hair woman, the dark hair woman gave good service to us. After I wanted to charge my phone and came to the bar where one man rudely said that they couldn't charge phone. Ok. When we wanted to leave though this bad service I wanted to take photo and write good review of beautiful austrian restaurant but that same man said rudely that it was not good thing to take photo of restaurant and clients Not not not not recommended Will not come back even the city Linz because of...

The food is good and the atmosphere is wonderful! Unfortunately, after many visits to this place, we had an ugly incident with a waiter who was bothered by a small child and a video call outside in the garden?!?! He was extremely rude, uncultured, argumentative and shouted in front of other guests. When asked if I could talk to the manager, he started shouting and forcing us to leave the restaurant. Such kind of people should not work anywhere in restaurants, especially not in such respected ones.. After e-mail communication with the manager, I received a reply in which the person in question defends himself... Regardless of the fact that there is no basis for this and that I have witnesses that I am right! We will never go to that place again, and I just want to warn others what can be expected..
