Berg&Tal is located in the heart of Mayrhofen, part gastropub, part boutiquey-resto. We were a party of six and they catered to our nut/lactose-allergies with aplomb. While we didn't have to wait, we did the smart thing and went in earlier to book a table since we were a larger party. What was truly memorable for me was their weiner schnitzel and their Berg&Tal burger. If you are a schnitzel snob like me, you won't be looking down your nose at it. I enjoyed their jammy-cranberry dip that went well with the pork, chased by buttery soft bite-sized potatoes. Their burger had that kind of kaiser-y bun that looks dense but was surprisingly soft so that the patty, bacon, tomato, cheese and lettuce was cushioned into a yummy bolus. All told, it was a very satisfying meal. Highly recommended. Small detail: The chips came in a heated stainless steel cup which cleverly kept all the fries warm till...
Read moreA great experience in Berg&Tal. First of all, since it was Sunday night I was afraid to just show up in a restaurant and find there is no available table (which had happened plenty in the past). The downside was the inside seats (benches) are not very comfortable, it's an open kitchen, so the smell of the food sticks to your clothes. And the flies.... but that is an all over Austrian issue. Definitely recommend when...

We tried the garlic cream soup—it could use a touch more salt, but that’s probably because we generally prefer saltier dishes. (On the flip side, my mum might find it too salty for her taste.) We simply added a bit of salt ourselves, and honestly, I think it’s always better to have less salt than too much.
The lamb risotto and beef tartare were also fantastic. On top of the great food, the staff were very friendly. I will definitely recommend...
