Manga Relax — Restaurant in Stadt Bregenz

Manga brings this unique modern atmosphere that you can find in the busy streets of Tokyo. The service is quick too: the food that we ordered was delivered within minutes. This is both a plus as a fact that gets you thinking about the freshness of the food. The sushi took longer and I therefore assumed that these were rolled fresh. The quick service seems to be part of Manga's concept.

The waiters were doing their best, but when my friend with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) asked what vegetables were in the spring roll due to this, she got a very astonished response at first with a glance of not being taken seriously and an answer that there were 'just vegetables' in there. Not very professional I would say.

The portion size for several dishes was smaller than I expected for the price. For instance, we asked for the noodle dish without egg and the meat, as we solely eat plant-based. You pay the same price, 9,80 and you even have to pay extra for tofu instead of meat. I would also avoid the pineapple with palmsugar, which has a nice representation but is not worth it for the price. The restaurant is overal not vegetarian or vegan friendly.

The rice plate with vegetables was tasty, so was the miso soup with silken tofu and the Japanese salad with seaweed. Great job on these, I can recommend these dishes. The maki with cucumber and avocado is exactly what you expect. It would be nice to see variation within vegan sushi with for instance mango, smoked tofu, tempeh etcetera.

All in all an okay experience. I would not go back for the few vegan dishes...

I got tricked by the "crispy duck" naming again, cause as in many such restaurants, it just means dry duck. It was actually not that bad though, with some soy sauce it turned out really tasty. The thing that really caught me off guard was the miso soup though. I guess it's supposed to be sour. But. My god, it was SOUR! I think that taste will stay in my mouth for a few days now. I suppose it's alright to go and eat asian food at, and I guess I don't have any better recommendations in this town, but it doesn't seem like a 4 star rating is fair for...
