I absolutely recommend this place to any person, who likes being treated like trash. The worker there has the nastiest attitude that I’ve ever seen. He refused to give us a table in another part of the cafe, because it was too far away for him to bring drinks and food (we didn’t say anything in response and just accepted). Then he saw on the phone of one of the girls that she wanted to leave a bad review and started straight up yelling at us, saying “Well, if you’re here, it means you like the place, so why bad review?!” I promised him to leave another bad one, so I hope he enjoys this. There is no point to eat or drink at a place, where you’re not only being treated unfriendly but also straight up degraded for nothing. We haven’t said a single rude word to him before he started yelling. If he thinks he’s better than everyone else, he should choose another job. After the fight we paid for what we already ordered and left, which is a shame, because such arrogance doesn’t deserve any money. We were here a couple of times in the past, as a big company, and last times the slightly unfriendly attitude was also the problem, so we chose a different place to gather. Today we wanted to give Cafe Benno another chance, but apparently for the worker there it’s more important to publicly show anger issues than to actually make profit. I almost never leave reviews and never in my life wrote a bad one, but this service absolutely deserves the worst words imaginable. Save yourself time and choose a better place, instead of tolerating this attitude. Or at least give the guy some tips, he really needs to afford those...
Read moreThe food is inedible. When a guest politely remarks this, they get publicly berated and patronised by the wait staff – I used to be a regular and I've seen this happen several times now. The bathrooms are a hygiene hazard. Also as previous reviewers mentioned, the whole place is filled with smoke. There are plenty more budget-friendly dining options in the area which serve better food at the same price and in a much nicer atmosphere. Benno really has gone down the drain in the past year and just isn't...
Read moreCafe Benno is a very fun place to go hang out with friends. The sad part is that they isolate the non smokers in the back, like we are grounded and reward the smokers. For me is embarrassing enough that Austria is the only developed country that is running behind manny underdeveloped countries with the smoking laws and here they force us to be cramped in the back room having to cross the smokers to enter, to leave and to use the toilet. That is disgusting and always makes me think twice...
