The food was delicious and the environment was nice and cozy (pet-friendly), but the whole experience was made very uncomfortable by the waitress. As soon as we sat down she came to ask us if we wanted to order a drink and even though we kept asking for more time (within reason), she kept coming back impatiently like every minute or so. She also kept hovering around our table for the entire duration of dinner, even after our food had already been served. At the end when we were going to pay, she asked if we were going to use cash or card and when we replied "card" she said that the machine was temporarily disabled and if we could wait a few minutes. She then returned and said it was a company-wide problem (which sounded super strange) and said we'd need to pay in cash. She gave vague instructions on where to find the ATM. After paying, she gave us back 5€ change and nothing else and started to say goodbye. But when I asked for the receipt (my friend and I were sharing the bill), she then handed me the receipt and 40 cents that were left of the change. It was not much at all, but that was SHADY as all hell, she meant to keep some of our money thinking we wouldn't know... Even though the food was good, sadly I'm not entirely it was worth it due to the service... We just wanted to get out of there as quickly...
Read moreMe and my girlfriend were here 2 days ago to try a schnitzel from a “random” restaurant we found of the street and compare it to, what we had previously heard, the best schnitzel in Vienna, at Figlmüller.
Braubar is nothing like Figlmüller, it is a thousand times better. The crispness of the schnitzel here is absolutely nothing but amazing. The lingonberry sauce tasted like my childhood, exactly like how my grandmother used to make hers every autumn. Not only was the food amazing, but so was the service we received (I have forgotten the name of our server, sorry about this but I hope you’re reading it).
The beer is also very moderately priced and very good. We received a great poured pint in a perfectly chilled glass.
In regards to our entire experience, the only small thing I would change is a little less mustard in the potato salad as it took over a bit too much from the other ingredients, but that is really me looking for things that were less optimal than perfection.
If we go back to Vienna - we will for sure come back to Braubar, regardless of where in the city we are staying - it is well worth the trip to eat here.
In summary - nothing less than a fantastic experience will be enjoyed...
Read moreWhat can I say? AMAZING! This restaurant is a little out of the way but absolutely worth every bit of the journey. Firstly it is really easy to get to as it is directly opposite the Alser Straße U-Bahn station on the U6 line.
Upon our arrival we were given English menus (which helped us a lot) and the staff were really helpful with offering to help us choose our food. I ordered a veal schnitzel with potato salad and fries and my wife ordered the ribs. The food was amazingly nice, we were both incredibly full which unfortunately meant we were not able to try the desserts.
To top it all off, the bill worked out a little under 20€ each including wine which we thought for Vienna was excellent.
Overall the restaurant was clean, tidy and well presented with really excellent and friendly staff. We had a good conversation with one of the staff about the potato salad as it was really nice, he told us how it was made which was good!
I hope that Braubar continues to get a lot of support and custom so I can return if I find myself in Vienna again! ...
