I went into the shop because I wanted to try Sachertorte. First, the staff who greeted me was unfriendly, and their guidance to the table was careless. When I placed my order, I asked if they had any other traditional Austrian cakes besides Sachertorte. The staff just replied, "Yes," and when I asked what kinds they had, they only said, "They're in the showcase," without providing any explanation. Moreover, at the very beginning of the menu, it stated that tipping in this shop is usually 10-15%. I found it absurd to insist on tipping when the service was so poor. I wasn’t expecting exceptional service, but considering the shop had an elegant exterior, a good atmosphere, and a clean interior, and even mentioned tipping prominently, I felt they should at least provide proper service. As for the cake, the Sachertorte had a very weak chocolate flavor, and it mostly tasted of apricot. The sponge was also dry, which left me disappointed. Since it was my first time trying Sachertorte, I wondered if this was how it was supposed to be. Later, I tried it at another shop, and there, the chocolate flavor was rich, the sponge was moist, and it was absolutely delicious. I will never go back to this shop, and I absolutely do not recommend it.

We visited this restaurant with great excitement to try traditional Austrian food. At first, everything seemed promising – we ordered a soup to start, which we all really enjoyed. Then our main courses arrived (the schnitzels), and unfortunately that’s when the experience changed. In my dish, I found a feather (or something similar). I discreetly and politely informed the staff and asked if they could change the plate. After quite a long wait, they brought me back the exact same plate, saying that the kitchen had simply removed it. I explained again that this was unacceptable and that I needed a new dish. Only after more waiting and a rather unpleasant attitude from the staff, the manager finally replaced it. To make things worse, the prices were very high for what we got. For example, we ordered a salad that was literally just a few lettuce leaves placed in a row on a plate (I have a photo), and they charged €10.50 for it. Even tap water was charged extra. Overall, it was a very disappointing experience, both in terms of service and value for money. Honestly, I am surprised how so many people keep visiting this place

Cafe Hummel is another Vienna classic, including the elegant servers in black suits. The interior has been maintained for many decades, with interesting details, prints, and photography. They have the typical Viennese menu, with perfectly executed desserts, and a very fairly priced midday dish (~$10), which varies according to the day of the week. This Thursday, the offering was a chicken brochette with a very generous serving of Letscho rice, and was filling, and delicious. Good coffee, as well. Be prepared to relax and wait a little during the busiest hours. Lovely velvet and leather booths, and a soft vintage lightning. A must visit during your stay in Vienna. Take the 5 or 33 streetcar to Albertgasse.

food was amazing, traditional vienna food and amazing schnitzel. however, the atmosphere wasn’t great, the place was stuffed to the brim and the tables were very close together. what was even worse was the service there. waiter made fun of our food choices, we had to wait half an hour to pay, and when we decided not to give any tips because of the long wait, the waiter mumbled “you know, tips weren’t included in the price, you could have given some”. usually we always tip a generous amount but due to the bad service we decided against it. turned out that it was indeed bad service, if you get upset at a customer not giving you tips. you pay for the food and the service, and as a waiter you should treat a customer nicely whether you get a tip or not. definitely not returning here due to the service staff, there are many...
