This cloudy afternoon, I headed to Gusto Naturalmente Gelato to indulge in two flavors: crema sarda and mango.
Crema sarda brings together the perfect mix of vanilla, nuts and a hint of orange (if I remember correctly). Originating from the island of Sardinia, finding this gelato flavor in Vienna is both challenging and unique. As such, I am very happy to be able to enjoy crema sarda over here.
Mango turned out to a perfect balancing act of a refreshing, fruity and creamy sorbet. The sorbet has an excellent consistency. It also struck the right balance in terms of sweetness for my taste buds.
Both flavors are exquisite in their own way. As someone who has previously worked in the food service industry in the California Bay Area, I also would like to point out the professional and kind attitude reflected in the service provided by the staff (and this in a capital infamous for all sorts of behavior). Upon my arrival, there was a line outside the shop, the staff kept their calm and attended each client in a professional and kind way.
The gelato parlor also proved to be a spot for locals to discuss city life (both while in line and upon completing their purchase). For me, making this observation means that customers feel at ease, which goes a long way and tells a lot about the shop’s vibe, management and customer service.
Five stars on all accounts – quality of gelato, unique flavors, quality of service and atmosphere.
I highly recommend this place.
Rhyme to go with the picture on a cloudy afternoon (works only in English): Yellow on yellow made me feel mellow.
FYI - I already had a couple of mouthfuls before taking the picture.
One last point: I also appreciate the parlor selling Italian gelato artigianale – an aspect that may not get the attention it deserves. Gelato is different from conventional ice cream in the sense of not relying on any sort of 'syrup base,' but by gelato artisans creating and crafting it entirely from scratch with natural ingredients. This is the reason why producing gelato is, in my view, art. As such, Gusto Naturalmente Gelato is selling both art...

Tried the citrone (lemon) flavour. The portion is generous, very refreshing and made from bio naturale ingredients. Definitely high quality, taste fresh, natural and not too sweet. Service is great...
Read moreMy favorite ice cream in Vienna by far and one of the best I have eaten in my life. Ice cream is tasty and not too sweet, and most important to me it is produced from BIO milk and from fruits/ingriedents not from chemical powder as in many places. However, it's a pity there is no pure, classic milk cream flavor. I definitely recommend to people who know what...
