Dampha Kitchen — Restaurant in Vienna

The new raising star on the culinary firmament of Vienna has a name: Dampha's Fusion Kitchen. Located conveniently some 100 steps off the subway stop (U4 Kettenbrückengasse), the restaurant surprises you with an ambitious menu - an intriguing and very platable blend of tastes & smells & ingredients from the Iberian and Gambian cuisines. The chef, Mr. Dampha, and his staff create six times a week a delicious choice of small-plate style dishes (tapas, empanadas, tacos), main courses (available options meat, vegetarian and vegan) and desserts. The place is busy any given evening (reservation necessary!); the staff is attentive and the Chef himself sometimes leaves the kitchen to greet his patrons personally. We arrived yesterday for the opening time of 2pm (as on Google maps), we travelled some distance to try this African food in Vienna. We sat waiting for it to open until 2:15 and no one came to open the restaurant. Very disappointing especially as the website says you open at 12pm so 2pm is even later. If you are looking for a great place to eat, drink, and listen to music on Copa Beach, this is the spot. The atmosphere is electic, and the food is brilliant. With the music pumping, this is a great spot on the river for friends, couples, and families. We both had chicken tacos, which were very flavorful and cooked to perfection.
