EDIT: The Restaurant contacted us, apologised and is offering a voucher and an invitation for a second try.
Imagine going out with your entire family to a brunch/ lunch place with exceptional ratings during lunch time and realising that the whole lunch menu is not available on public holidays, they only serve one kind of veggie soup and one meat stew as lunch options. Then the whole group decides to go for breakfast options only to realise that the kitchen ran out of buns ON A PUBLIC HOLIDAY (we were informed about that 30 minutes after ordering) in an almost empty restaurant which meant only 3 breakfast dishes were available for us to have and we had to find a new choice. We even suggested to take bread instead of buns but the waiters told us there is no way for the cook to prepare the dishes with bread. We wanted to leave only paying for our mediocre drinks, but the waiters told us the dishes we ordered were already on their way and we could not leave now without paying. Well they arrived 1 hour after that conversation... In total because of slow and unattentive service the whole unsatisfactory experience took 2 hours. Dishes didn't arrive at the same time. No salt and pepper on the table for egg dishes. The taste of the food was ok at best and the prices are way too high for that. It was a true disaster. The good thing about this place is the architecture, the overall interior style, music and the location. (a location were you can get buns in 5 minutes because there are supermarkets and bakeries open even on public holidays). You can do better dogenhof. Until then we won't be...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of visiting Dogenhof and my experience was nothing but amazing.
When we arrived, our table wasn't quite ready, so we were invited to have an aperitivo at the open kitchen area. This turned out to be a delightful surprise as we were able to watch the chefs at work and engage in conversations about the food.
The restaurant's concept of sharing plates is a fantastic way to enjoy a variety of flavors and everything we tried was simply delicious. The quality of the ingredients and the passion put into the dishes was evident in every bite. The wine selection was also impressive and the pairings were spot on.
However, what truly made our visit special was the incredible service from the entire team. The chefs and waiters were all friendly, attentive and passionate about their craft. Overall, it was an outstanding dining experience and I would highly recommend Dogenhof to anyone looking for an...
Read moreEvery bit as arch-hipster as you'd expect from a concept restaurant owned by a lomography influencer named Doc Flaps. The menu includes starters like 'pickled experiments' and god help you if you want carbs, as there seems to be some kind of collab going on with the Atkins diet.
The vibe is sophisticated-trendy, but it's not quite as cool as it would have you believe. Think giant letterpress machines among the tables and graphic art on the walls that includes rude words.
The showstopping ribeye, cooked over open fire is worth the entry price alone, but the service is poor at best. Some staff are friendly but slow, while one waiter - who resembled a harassed Jürgen Klopp - actively seemed angry that we were even there.
It's not cheap, but also not wildly expensive for beautifully cooked steak. Just be prepared to source your potatoes elsewhere, and don't expect to feel...
