What can be said about this place that has not been said a million times before, both here and on other review websites, in documentaries, you name it. But are they just that good? The answer is yes. Yes, they are just that good. Now we actually reserved over a month in advance. We had a reservation for this place long before we had our flight tickets or hotel rooms booked. Is that crazy? Somewhat, yes. But does that beat rocking up there on a Friday night, when the queue is literally around the block, pass all of these people waiting, walk in and get seated right away like you are some kinda rockstar? Absolutely. Now this is not a cheap place. If you treat yourself to a proper three course with drinks, you easily walk out of there with 50+ Euros per person. But folks, I am not exaggerating when I tell you that this is the best Schnitzel I have ever eaten, period. We had one Figlmüller Schnitzel (made from pork), and one classic Wiener Schnitzel (made from calf) - I struggle to decide which one is better. They are both extraordinary. I would say if you are really hungry, go for the former, as it is bigger. If you want the purist, original viennese schnitzel experience, go for the latter. Oh and the sides are also to die for. Their recommended potato/rocket salad? Heavenly. This is THE place to eat to in Vienna. If you have to choose only one, it is this one. Just make sure that you do check about a month or so in advance if they can accommodate you. They will even ask you to confirm that you will show up one more time on the day of your reservation, as their popularity is through the roof and they will easily be able to give your seat away if you don't holler back. But all of this is a small price to pay for what probably is one of the best Schnitzel places on the planet - and a very well deserved five stars.

Not exactly what we had expected! Given the long line and wait time to get a table, we did not find anything special in this restaurant. The food is very normal, nothing special, really! All dishes are a la carte, they do not come with any sides so you would have to pay extra for fries, vegetable, etc. It becomes Sort of expensive after all. The traditional schnitzel is only made with pork, no beef, no chicken. I myself had the chicken cordon bleu which was exactly the same quality and taste as you would have it in any other restaurant. We had a bottle of water for the one-year-old baby that we put on the table as we just sat down. The waiter came and grabbed the bottle and put in on the floor without asking us, with some sort anger! He said no bottle from outside is allowed. This was absolutely rude. I was not happy with his attitude and the way we were treated. We were all ver hungry after waiting in line for a long time so we did not say anything. Attention restaurant manager if you read this post: This is NOT the way to treat customers. Another point: They forgot to bring a side dish for my son so we had to chase the waiter down to remind him, my son had eaten more than half of his good by the time he got the side dish. Service not to the level one would expect for this restaurant. And the food not worth for the price they charge you. That’s my 2cents.

As a local guide based in London, this is my first time to give a one-star rate outside the UK.It is also the first time in my life that I refused to tip a restaurant.I am usually a generous person, but my experience in this restaurant can be described as unbelievable. We were forced to wait for an hour in the restaurant for our food. The waiter didn't know our requirements and gave us the wrong soup, and another waiter refused to serve us. He claimed to be not a waiter with very rude words, but he wore the same uniform as everyone else. When we waited for an hour, the guests who ate later left, and our cold food was finally delivered. When I checked out, the two waiters in the picture below saw my request, but they ignored it. They just chatted and asked me to pay more tips. After learning that I wouldn't pay them tips, he looked at me with hatred and stole my sunglasses worth 500 euros when I went to the toilet. When I reported to the manager, they found my sunglasses in the basement service desk full of oil and jam. I would advise all the guests who want to come to this restaurant to avoid it strongly. They will ruin your mood. I know they don't care about comments, but this is my experience.

Food is good, service is not. We were a group of four and ordered three main meat dishes, two veggie dishes, and drinks. Our request was simple: we asked the middle-aged Caucasian male waiter who took our orders for some sharing plates. He responded by arguing that our dishes wouldn’t all fit on the table and started displaying an unpleasant attitude, saying something along the lines of, “We never put this many dishes on one table.” He also “forgot” to bring one of our main dishes until we followed up. Well, as shown in the photo. We had a large table, and everything fit fine, with some space to spare. Even if he didn’t know the table and plate sizes well enough, there was no need to argue or complain to us with such an attitude. We refused to leave a tip due to his attitude. In response, he rudely threw the receipt onto our table in front of us. This was a stark contrast to the lovely smile he showed to the other table nearby. Quite disgusting. All the dishes tasted fine. Perhaps this place’s popularity among tourists has affected its service quality. To be honest, there are plenty of other options in Vienna for good local cuisine with much friendlier service. So I’d say, don’t bother.

In Vienna, Austria we were lucky that our Viennesse friend who recommended Figlmueller made reservations. There is a long line up of customers waiting to get in. The place is popular for serving classic Viennesse cuisine especially schnitzel and we really want to try only the best schnitzel in Vienna. Our friend was absolutely right, the food was excellent. We had Veal Schnitzel, Pork Schnitzel, Viennesse Boiled Beef in the pot with chive sauce, apple horseradish and brown potatoes served with semolina dumplings, Lingonberry jam and mixed green salad. The salad dressing was so good, I am not a big fan of potatoes but the dressing blended so well with the potatoes and greens that I finished them. The veal schnizel and pork schnitzel was well seasoned and tender, so delicious and flavourful. Portions are big that one schnitzel can feed two persons. We also tried the traditional Viennesse softdrink, Almdudler. It tasted like a little of ginger ale and apple juice, it was light and refreshing. Service was also fast and our server provided excellent customer service. This is a place that one shouldn't miss dining in when in Vienna, absolutely fantastic.

Our journey to find the perfect schnitzel led us to Figlmuller Restaurant in Austria, known for its acclaimed recipe. The ambiance was charming, filled with the chatter of satisfied diners and the clinking of glasses. We started with a delightful traditional meat stew, prepared tableside with care and authenticity. The Viennese broiled meat from the stew was flavorful, paired perfectly with tender potatoes and a refreshing traditional potato salad. Then came the moment of truth – the schnitzels. Figlmuller's reputation is well-deserved, and both the veal and pork schnitzels were delicious. The pork schnitzel, in particular, stood out for its tender texture and crispy golden coating. Amidst the lively atmosphere and the aroma of delectable food, we enjoyed every bite at Figlmuller. Located centrally, it allowed us to continue exploring the city after our satisfying meal. Figlmuller Restaurant offers more than just food; it's an experience rooted in tradition and culinary excellence. If you're in search of exceptional schnitzel in Austria, Figlmuller is a must-visit. Just remember to book ahead – it's a popular spot for a reason.
