Vienna’s Prettiest Cafes ☕️🍰🫖 All the cafes I visited were super nice, authentic and charming - don’t be surprised if you find long queues! Especially the popular spots can be really busy but worth the wait in my opinion or book in advance if you can. ❗️Don’t leave without trying the legendary SACHER CAKE, invented by Franz Sacher in Vienna 🍫 PRETTIEST CAFES 👇🏼 ✨ Café Central ✨ Café Sacher ✨ Café Landtmann ✨ Gerstner ✨ Demel ✨ Oberlaa ✨ Café Sperl ✨ Café Mozart Save for your next trip to Vienna! _____________ #viennacafe #viennacoffee #vienna #wienstagram #welovevienna #viennaonly #wheninvienna #viennalife #viennatouristboard #vienna_city #vienna_go #uktravelblogger #wien #viennastravel #wien_love #viennagram #viennaaustria #instavienna #viennatravel #austriatravel #europevacations #viennafood #viennafood #wheretoeatinvienna #sachertorte #bestsacher #sacher best cafes in Vienna, travel to Vienna, Austria travel, Sacher in Vienna, things to do in Vienna

Café Sacher Wien is wonderful! We just visited here and tried a variety of different things from the menu. We were very happy with everything! A lot of reviews talked about how they waited forever to get a table…we just walked right in. We came late at night past 9 pm and that seemed to be the best time - it was still nearly full, but there was still space, and that allowed us to be in and out in a relatively short period of time. The cafe is wonderfully-decorated and very ornate (very much feeling like you’ve time-traveled to the 1800s) and the service is good, at least when we went. The waiters and waitresses seemed very stressed, but they still put on a smile and were very nice! We got a hot chocolate, the Vienna ice coffee, a gluten-free almond cake, and of course the famous Sacher torte. The hot chocolate was excellent, Vienna ice coffee was actually awesome (like a better version of an affogato), the gluten-free almond cake was very good and very much appreciated as one of us is gluten-intolerant, and the Sacher torte actually lived up to expectations! I didn’t think it would, but it was a very good, dense chocolate cake covered with some dark chocolate and layered with apricot jam. The apricot/chocolate combo was very flavorful and it elevated what would be a pretty standard chocolate! I definitely recommend trying the Sacher torte out if you have some spare time in Vienna, and try their gluten-free almond cake if they have it as well! Based off our hot chocolate and ice coffee, I can safely say any chocolate or coffee dessert would be very good here. All in all, a great cafe!!

When we arrived we were sat right away at the cafe because we opted to sit outside. We ordered their legendary Sacher Torte and coffee. The cake was good, not the best, it was a little dry. The coffee was delicious. Our waiter was ok, he didn’t seem well trained on proper etiquette. I noticed a guest next to me didn’t like what they ordered and the waiter asked the guest what they wanted to do about it, instead of offering the guest a compromise. As we paid our bill, I paid in cash and the waiter asked me what he should do with the money I gave him. I’ve never been asked that before, usually a waiter will give you back the change. I had to explain that to him. He was young and could definitely improve on his skills. If you’re in Vienna the Sacher torte is a must try, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to try one again. If you’re here in the summer expect long wait times to sit inside. I recommend going later in the evening for a shorter wait.

I waited in line outside the restaurant for 40 minutes on a sunny afternoon to get in. I read about unfriendly staff in the reviews and thought it was a one-off thing, but it wasn't. While I was almost at the front of the line, a guy from the back asked the waiter how long the waiting time is. The waiter remarked '5, 10, 30 minutes, 1 hour, I don't know'. The customer got frustrated and I think he left. And when another wanted to sit in empty tables outside, a waiter said they are not serving outside in the afternoon as it's hot. Surely, people will prefer to eat under the hot sun compared to standing under the hot sun, won't they? I got in and was seated. I asked to start with a dessert and said I'll have my main course after. My waiter, an middle aged lady, rolled her eyes, annoyingly, when I asked for the vegan version of schnitzel. I asked her to remove ice-cubes from my water during my meal, and she was kind in doing that. I guess some things just irritate the staff about which all customers seem to have complains. Now, about the food. I had the following in that order. 1. Original Sacher Torte -- They name their cake `original' as it was first made here some centuries ago. The cake was delicious -- muddy grainy, lemony sour (perhaps from the middle thin layer, which I later understood was apricot jam), and mildly moist. The icing on the top and outer rim was a like a solid chocolate bar and yummy. I couldn't even cut through it and I had to put it down sideways to cut it with a knife. The accompanying whipped cream is actually essential to give it a complete feeling, a bit more of moisture. 2. Vegan Schnitzel -- This was very normal. Two thin layers of some vegan protein covered with bread crumbs and supposedly fried. Despite being fried, it was not dripping with oil. The accompanying potato salad was perfectly salted and warm. The salad leaves combination was good, broken biscuits of grains, and grated radish. The second schnitzel started to become boring, not much of a `taste' in the whole thing. 3. Vanilla ice-cream -- While it was not in the menu separately, only available with the ice coffee in strudel, I asked for it separately, and the waiter said it can be done, and brought it in a drinks glass. It was smooth and creamy, but I was not able to describe the flavour or get a mental picture of it. Overall, the food is good, but not so worth the high price and the waiting, in my opinion. Perhaps the motto is 'If you want somebody to enjoy the food, starve him first.' 31st July, 2024.
