I’ve recently tried a couple Ramen places around Vienna, and Oreno consistently appears in lists and recommendations - so I gave it a shot, and to make it short: it’s worth it.
A bit on the pricier side, and with a smaller menu than other similar places, my expectations for the ramen were appropriately high. The appetizers, all classics from karaage to edamame and gyoza, are decent and served quickly. Nothing too special, though, and surprisingly so were most ingredients in my ramen. All good, no complaints, but nothing extraordinary. That is, aside from the arguably most important ingredient of them all: the noodles.
I don’t know how they do it, but their ramen noodle is such a fantastic, flavourful and firm experience that it instantly elevates the whole ramen bowl to another level. Probably the best noodle I’ve had, honestly.
The desserts didn’t disappoint either: their matcha ice cream comes in combination with tasty fruity sides, even though it would hold up on its own just fine. And if you’re into sake, the Wandering Poet was an amazing...
Read moreWhat a find! Food is delicious, they have vegetarian and vegan options and they’re not the usual sad ramen with a couple veggies. I had tried the yasai ramen this winter and recently tried the summer special with yuzu and truffle and melon. I say this having eaten grandma’s homemade noodles all my life: it was honestly the best, most interesting ramen I’ve ever had. Veg dumplings were also very tasty, I don’t order them often when I eat out because they’re usually not good but these were. Their homemade kombucha is perfect to wash it all down and I loved the tableware as well. Service is great and the guys are all very nice. I love that all the staff is quite young. Will miss this place when I fly back, definitely worth a visit every time you...
Read moreI really liked this place.
Probably the best one for Shoyu Ramen, I like the taste of the pork very very much. The ni-tamago is perfectly well done as well.
The karaage and Korean style chicken were very very good. The gyoza were spot on.
I think this is definitely in the top three so far with Mochi and Makotoya, and it's hard to rank these top notch places amongst each other. I would say Oreno has the best shoyu ramen, Makotoya has the best dandan style ramen, while Mochi is all around great, with the nicest aesthetic as well.
Karaage ranking is almost impossible, they are all superb
I will definitely come back here due to the quality food, excellent staff, the house pug who loves treats from strangers, and to enjoy that post-ramen...
