Short summary of my visit would be. unfriendly atmosphere waiter who doesn't take NO as an answer jokes that seem unnecessary trying to guilt trip and force into paying tips good pizza for Vienna price
After choosing a place where to eat, me and a friend decided on this restaurant as it has good looking pictures and reviews. We were seated outside, after a minute a waiter came and asked us for drinks, we said we don't any. He reassured once again, we said no. Then after 5 mins of choosing food, he came again. Asked if we chose, we said no and he asked for drinks, we once again had to say no, he offered us water, we said no. All of this was met with kind of condescending looks by him and not really welcoming attitude, we felt like we are bothering him. Even when he pick our plates and everything, he did it like it's the worst thing he had to do, didn't say anything though just the atmosphere was not great. When we wanted to pay, he asked if we want to "run away or pay". Maybe a nice joke, but not if you say it without any emotions and with dead look in face. After answering no, we want to pay, we followed him inside, where we were met with something no one expected. He informed me that the service fee is not included in the final bill. First time experienced something like service fee in Vienna. After I said I would just like to pay for my pizza, he seemed offended and asked, so you want to say the service was bad ?
Even though pizza was good, the service left such a bad taste in our mouth, that I don't think I will ever visit, much better places...
Read moreThe restaurant itself is pretty and cosy but tries too hard to be Italian. The service is good but our reservation got lost. We were just lucky there was a free table.
We had pizza fritta as a starter, which was excellent. I just think that if you put ruccola on a plate it should be marinated and seasoned, but you will get excellent olive oil and vinegar to adjust this.
Our main dishes were lasagne. One with meat, one with vedge. Both of them were a Desaster. We basically just had pasta sheets and bejamel on our plates accompanied again by ruccola without seasoning. It didn't taste fresh and was nothing more than a warm block of pasta, flower and some milk with a handful of meat and vegetables. It was the worst lasagne I've ever had in a restaurant.
It was so unpleasant to eat, greasy and heavy that we decided not to...
Read moreThe Neapolitan style pizza served at the Pizzeria La Spiga made me tremendously happy. The dough was perfect: fluffy and crispy the same time The tomato sauce was very fruity and the cheese (fior di latte and buffalo mozzarella) was delicious. It seems that that the owner of this very original Italian place likes pizza too and that is really very good. There are many places in Vienna meanwhile who are trying to serve the original Neapolitan pizza style, but this is since today the best one.
The service is excellent. The wine also. The ambience of this restaurant is simple and not fancy, but it's a very cosy place to spend a nice time with friends, good Italian food and wine. What more can...
