Discover the enticing flavors of Indian cuisine at this conveniently located Indian restaurant, easily accessible by Bus 59A and Tram 1. With a chef from Punjab, you can expect a close-to-authentic culinary experience that showcases the flavors of India.
We opted for the a la carte menu and were delighted by the flavors in each dish. The chef was fairly good, as they combined aromatic spices and ingredients to create a memorable dining experience.
While enjoying our meal, we couldn't help but notice other diners opting for the traditional thalis, which offered a assortment of dishes presented on a platter. These thalis allowed guests to experience a variety of flavors in a meal.
To complement the cuisine, the restaurant offers a selection of local wines and beers. This inclusion allows guests to enhance their dining experience while also discovering the local beverage offerings.
A bustling crowd of locals is always an encouraging sign when seeking an authentic dining experience, and this Indian restaurant does not disappoint in that regard. The fact that it is frequented by locals on a Monday night reflects the establishment's reputation for delivering flavorful meals.
However, it's important to note that the restaurant falls short in terms of ambiance and decor. Admittedly, it may not be the best choice for those seeking a luxurious or upscale dining experience. The establishment's hole-in-the-wall atmosphere and lackluster decor may not create the desired ambiance for a special occasion or a refined dining setting.
When it comes to desserts, the options may be limited to Gulab Jamun and Malai Kulfi, which are indeed standard fare in many Indian restaurants. Though this restaurant has a lot of food and drink options, they lack in providing many desserts.
In summary, this Indian restaurant offers convenient accessibility and flavors, thanks to the chef from Punjab. The inclusion of local wine and beer adds to the overall dining experience. While the lackluster decor and ambiance may not appeal to those seeking a more refined setting, the bustling crowd of locals reaffirms its reputation as a go-to spot for authentic Indian cuisine. Although dessert options are limited, the classic choices provide a nice conclusion...
Read more4 of us went tonight without booking. No problem. Pleasant, professional staff. Choose your own table. Restaurant about half full at 20.30. Good menu, plenty of choice. No chicken korma on the menu only beef. No problem at all to have chicken. 2 sets poppadoms with trio of sauces, spicy mint, yogurt mango and sweet mango. Fresh crispy delicious poppadoms. Strange how some places can even mess that up! Here they are to be recommended. Chicken korma, smooth, delicious very mild but exquisitely tasty. Possibly 1 if the vest korma's I've eaten, ( and that is quite alot!) Panack paneer, spinach with cottage cheese, mild and tasty. Yellow dal, lentils slightly spicy, great flavour. One of my favorites. Alo ghobi, potato and cauliflower in a slightly spicy sauce. I'd have preferred more potato in it but superb flavour. Could not be faulted. Chicken curry. I asked for medium spicy and it was excellent. Full of flavour with a little heat. Perfect. Alo potato nan and regular nan bread. Both excellent. Freshly made soft and crunchy at same time. Delicious. Plain basmati rice. Fluffy and hot, perfect balance to the dishes. I had a salti Lasi, works great to take the heat out of any over spicy dish. An acquired taste i enjoy. 2 large apple juices with fizzy water and a large bottle still water. I had a cardamon tea. Sadly not made with sweetened condensed milk but tasty non the less. Whole meal came to €100. Good value for what we had and we managed to take home enough lovely food of all dishes to feed the 2 at home who couldn't come out! I'd highly recommend trying it. Friendly staff, excellent food, great location, what more could...
Read moreWaitress was super nice and accommodating. The food was not that good. Something was just missing from flavor. The garlic naan was good, aloo paratha was good. The samosa was ok 3/5 missing flavor. The rice was bland. Mango Lassi was good. I asked for Indian spice, and well, it didn't come out like that. To be fair, the waitress offered chile on the side. While we were eating the husband, which I'm assuming, is the owner was arguing with a man which is definitely not professional in front of your customers. I'm not sure what was going on, but they ended up leaving after a 5-10 minute conversation. After finishing up, the waitress didn't come around, and we were trying to leave, so I stood up and went inside and asked to pay. The older lady, which I'm guessing, was the owners spouse, said that someone would come outside to charge me. Then, two other men came out, and shortly after, I asked his wife if she told him I was ready to pay, and her response was yes. After trying to patiently wait for him to come charge me, meanwhile, he was just sitting down, then standing up and taking care of his son and talking to the other two gentlemen. All while holding the card machine in his hand. I waited a little longer, but at this point, it has been 20-25 minutes since i first asked his wife that I was ready to pay. So I walked in and asked to pay. They were all apologetic. But again, the younger waitress was super cool...
