we had the chance of dining in the very prestigious taj indian restaurant and bar in austria. In apetizers we ordered chicken kabli which was very bland to start with, then we ordered chicken soup that was surprisingly tasty and a spicy tequila margherita … my friends found it a bit too sweet with spicy but i really liked it…it was very refreshing.Looking back at the apetizers,we realised that maybe the hot/spice palate here is very mild so when we ordered chana masala, chicken tikka masala and bhuna gosht along with naan in the main course we asked them to make it spicy. The food came, the naan looked like store brought bread(or maybe poorly cooked naan bread) but we still were hopeful that the curries will be good as the tastes in restaurants found in other countries than india can be a bit different but oh my god to my holy shock the first bit we had from the curries it was all chilli no other flavour , just chilli. We started eating coz we were really hungry from the whole day walking and sightseeing but the more we ate the more the chiilis in the curries started to kick and not in a good way. Suddenly our heads were spinning and we decided that we ll talk to the waiter who served us if they added the chillis twice because it was not edible at all and believe me we eat very spicy/hot food. Instead of agreeing/apologising the waiter started giving us this very delusional explanation that austrian people consume more chilli/spices than indians … i mean…come on…the whole austria’s food pipe will melt down if they ate normal indian spicy let alone this one. After a lot of arguing he didn’t agree that they made a mistake maybe or maybe if that was the case that austrians eat more spices than indian palate then he should have warned us before we ordered. Since i was suffering a lot he was kind enough to offer us some yogurt(2 bowls) which we finished and still couldnt feel better. I am writing this review only to warn our indian fellows who might come to this restaurant to dine, please DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT ASK TO MAKE YOUR FOOD SPICY you might have to go to the hospital if your tolerance is not as much as ours…oh and one more thing…i am not saying that their food is not nice or that the staff behaviour was not good…all i am saying that they shouldn’t have treated us the...

After an unpleasant experience at another restaurant, our family of nine was warmly welcomed at Taj - Indian Restaurant & Bar, and what a difference it made! From the moment we stepped in, the hospitality was remarkable.
Our waiter was truly outstanding—professional, attentive, and incredibly knowledgeable. He explained each dish with such clarity and passion that we could practically see and taste them before ordering. Despite our large group, he managed everything smoothly and with a smile.
The food? Absolutely delicious! We ordered:
3 Chicken Biryani – 9/10
2 Veg Biryani – 10/10
1 Lamb Biryani – 9/10
1 Prawn Biryani – 10/10
2 Butter Chicken – 10/10
1 Chicken Masala – 9/10

The mango lassi was a hit—so refreshing and flavorful we had to order a second round. The naan bread was hot, light, and perfectly crunchy.
We also want to thank the owner, who is not only well-presented and kind but also made sure we felt at home. A true gentleman and a gracious host.
This place turned our evening around and reminded us what real hospitality and authentic Indian cuisine should feel like. Highly recommended for families, food lovers, and anyone who appreciates...
Read moreSo we ordered butter chicken, chana masala, garlic naan, and jeera rice for delivery at Senator hotel. Service: Food is awesome no doubt about it. We requested a person who was taking order to send cutlery as we are tourist and do not have cutlery. We also requested to send him change for 100 Euros. Even after promising to send cutlery they have not send it. It was difficult for us to find cutlery in our hotel as our hotel restaurant was closed. So my husband has to run in night for cutlery shopping. Very much disappointed as the guy promised us to send cutlery. Also he did not send the change but we are okay with it but very much disappointed about restaurant not sending us cutlery when we have particularly asked for it before ordering food.
