Tunnel Vienna Live — Restaurant in Vienna

A jazz bar on a no-jazz evening. Busy: "sorry we're completely full". "But look", we said, "the people on those tables are just leaving". They said we could sit at one of them.

Ordering reminded me of the Peter Sellers sketch where everything was "off" (not available). Not quite as bad, but we all had to settle for second or third choice.

The cutlery arrived in a bucket with a couple of napkins. Two knives and two forks for four of us. We asked for more. They brought us another bucket containing one knife, one fork, and one paper napkin. "There are four of us and you've still only brought us enough cutlery for three people" I said in German, slightly irritated by now. "Oh, but I haven't got…", started the waitress before realising how stupid it would be if a restaurant couldn't provide each customer with their own knife and fork, and insisted we share. She eventually returned with another knife and fork.

Food was average, but the service was offhand to the point...

This place has been a staple for quite some time now. Their breakfast brunch is great bang for your buck. They also have lots of big tables and the downstairs area is hosting many different events such as concerts or quiz-nights. BUT!! And it is a big BUT... The service is abysmal. I have yet to encounter another place that has such oblivious wait staff. They are really friendly and to give them credit they seem to be understaffed most days. Still, the amount of times staff walks past you, never asking if you want anything else, even actively clearing your table without so much as a thought to the possibility of you wanting to order more is just mind boggling. Still, I like the place and if you are in the area just give it a shot. Just go up to the bar to order -- always!! I booked at 8:30 but they misbooked at 18:30, 6:30pm. When I went there around 8:45 they didn’t excuse anything and we first ordered drinks to wait my another friends. As my friends arrived at 9:05, we want to order food to waiter but she refused it because the kitchen already closed at 9:00. I was so angry because they didn’t apologize about misbooking and let us know the kitchen closing time even if I ordered beers 10mins before closing time. And when we drunk them at once and tried to pay it, they didn’t accept under 15 euros they charged tips even if their service was terrible. I gonna never go...
