Came herer the other day for lunch. We ordered one beef korma and one meat thali, a plate with three different curries. The menu does not say which curries are included in the thali, to give the kitchen more flexibility, but that meant I did not know what I had on my plate, and the waiter did not explain when he placed it in fron of me. To my disappointment, one of the curries was beef korma - if they already decide which curries to include on a case-to-case basis, it would have been thoughtful to not give me a curry I'd be able to taste on my partner's plate anyway.
Unfortunately, the beef korma was incredibly bland. I know kormas as delightfully creamy, either coconutty or made with cashews. This was pale, tasteless, and had big chunks of brokkoli and cauliflower in it. My second curry was a "chicken curry" - I'd expect at good Indian restaurant to be more descriptive than that, aren't most of their dishes curries? The taste was similarly non-descript - not bad at all, but nothing to rave about. The third curry was a pork vindaloo, which was really lovely, can't complain about that at all. The rice, naan, poppadom and raita included in my thali were good as well, and plenty. All in all I find €22 for this Thali to just not be worth it.
In all fairness, another couple two tables over had ordered a tower of starters, which looked amazing, they also seemed to really enjoy their mains. Maybe I just chose badly, but you'd think they'd put a selection of their best curries on their thali.
In the end, there are enough amazing Indian restaurants in Vienna where I like every single dish that I would not...
Read moreOur recent visit to Tulsi was incredibly frustrating, primarily due to the appalling staff behavior and mediocre food.
Upon arrival, we were seated and left waiting at our table for almost 20 minutes without a single staff member acknowledging us or coming to take our order. This level of neglect is unacceptable. When we finally resorted to calling the number listed on Google, someone picked up. We explained that we were already inside the restaurant and requested someone to come to our table. The most infuriating part was realizing that they had time to attend to phone calls for new reservations but no time to serve customers who were already patiently waiting inside.
The food was equally disappointing. The portion sizes were far too small for the price. The malai kofta was merely "okayish," nothing to write home about. However, the mixed vegetable dish was truly one of the worst I've ever encountered. The vegetables were undercooked and completely lacked any flavor – it was utterly tasteless. Overall, our experience at Tulsi was a complete letdown. The combination of pathetic service and poor food quality makes this a restaurant I would strongly advise...
Read moreTulsi is one of the worst restaurants in Vienna - the veg thali is €21 and it’s not that much worth. If you really want to try veg thali, go to Taste Of India, near Landstrasse Metro - you’ll get the best veg thali, the price is €15, the taste also very good. In Tulsi, you’ll get limited options to choose. In case, if you are a South Indian please ignore this restaurant and go for other options. The worst part is the owner behavior, I req to provide plastic spoons and he said: we don’t have - I am surprised ! I don’t know what kind of business he is running (I’m sorry) - not even, paper napkins …. seriously, these are the basic things that you’ve to provide (or ask) for parcel service. The owner body language is also something different. I’m totally disappointed. I’ll give less than 2 ratings !!
I agree with Kaveriya Ramphal review - I was also under the same impression that after seeing Indian faces, his behavior changes. However I’ve had visited so many countries (Indian rest.) but I never get this kind of...
