we were looking forward to visiting this place as it was recommended to us by locals. unfortunately this was the worst restaurant experience in our lives. The place itself was very nice and not too busy so we sat down and waited for 15 min. When the tattooed waitress finally came, we asked for an English menu and she straight up told us: "I don't have time to translate". Then ignoring the fact we didn't understand what's on the menu, she asked us if we wanted to order. We again said we couldn't order because we had no idea what kind of food they had. she again said "I don't time" and walked away. We have then decided to leave.
The next day we were again looking for a place to have breakfast and we thought we'd give the Wirr a second chance, thinking our waitress just had a bad day. When we walked in, our waitress was there but also another waiter. When we walked up to the bar to ask if they had an open table, the waitress again had attitude and said: "today you understand?" Obviously showing us that she would give us hard time even if the place was empty. We sat down and she took our drink order and then she suddenly started to talk german even though she knew we didn't understand. We drank our coffees, left and decided never come back.
It's ok not to speak English but the attitude is inexcusable and doesn't make the...
Read moreThis place is a bar, a cafe, and a restaurant. You can go there for just a cafe, a drink, a meal, or all of it. Depending on the time you can find friends and their young families meeting, business people having lunch or after-work drink, or late-night people enjoying the company of their friends. There's a good selection on beverage, and the menu offers a good variety of small snacks and entire meals - some vegetarian options included. Apart from the standard menu there's also a selection of daily specials, and a weekly menu for lunch. The main room can hold many people, and even groups of 10 can find a table there. A sliding door separates a smaller room for about 10 smokers, which is declared non-smoking for lunch time. During summertime there's also seating available on the street. At peak hours you can get lucky to get a seat as a single person, though reservation is recommended if you are coming in a group. Music is played through speakers in a decent volume to allow conversation, and walls are regularly decorated with various (photography) art projects. If you are hungry and curious for something new, I recommend the club sandwich, made with waffles instead of...
Read moreI would take it with humor, but I have never been treated so rude in a café! Mind you, i have worked in one myself for years! The waffles with the avocado smash was offered with guacamole instead, which had so much lemon in there, it was really not enjoyable. I had TWO bites and then asked the waiter over to tell him. He straight up told me that “well, you already ate too much of the waffle and I can’t return it.” When I replied that I only had two bites he got really sassy and said “well I know you had more than that”. When I asked him over again to tell him how rude I thought his reaction was, he stayed true to himself. No reflection on the interaction, his tone. Told me that there are “no rules” on how to make smashed avocado. Lol The matcha latte was luke warm, the waffle had no taste and the avocado was a lemon. But hey, if a waiter is nice and helpful, i would always let that go and tip accordingly, because a great service makes a difference. I would really recommend this guy to either change jobs or work on his comms skills. And for the cook: less...
