This is a very cool jazz joint. It’s a shame that they charge the same fee for being in the back room. Which is exactly that. A room in the back with a stand-up table, a sofa and a picnic table.
We called to make a reservation as we heard it was required and they told us there was plenty of room in the back. Unfortunately, it was true.
We were placed in the stand-up table facing a wall. No visibility of the concert at all. Sound was also bad as they have some kind of poorly made backstage access where the bassist usually stands, so the bass amp is all you can hear. Our tickets were the same price as the people in front row.
Could we have called before? Yes. Could they adjust prices for absolutely no visibility location in the bar? Maybe something to consider.
Bartenders/servers have very low anger management. We saw them respond very rudely to the people in the sofa because they asked if the cover charge was really the same for everyone in the club regardless of the location. That was a question we all had in the “back room”. They responded poorly and annoyed… poor guys, they think they’re managing the Vanguard or something.
Our advise: be aware of the back room sitting and try not to interact too much with the staff. But it’s...

I was very lucky to see Bartus and friends, who had traveled from Bratislava for the evening, with the incomparable Ondrej Krajnak on piano. The tempest of modern jazz and intimations of Slovak folk music (?) was thrilling and certainly something I could not have experienced at Small's. The owner and bartenders were all lovely and extremely welcoming. My two visits to ZWE this week were the highlights of my trip to Vienna and all jazz afficionados should make this their #1...
Read moreNever been to a Jazz Bar before but now I wish I did. Members of staff were so very friendly and welcoming, they made sure we felt comfortable and served us recommended drinks. If you haven’t had the Arseol (not sure if I spelt that right) Sour then I would recommend that.
The musicians were amazing and so very talented. It was so great to see, enjoy the atmosphere and simply soak up the vibe. It did get very busy but that made our experience even better.
If you’re around the area and looking for evening entertainment. Be sure to stop by as there’s an event every night, and be sure to have cash for the musicians and bar as they do not take card (or that they don’t accept card if you spend...
