The restaurant is in a great central location and within easy walking distance, which was a plus. Unfortunately things didn’t start off well as we were seated as a family right next to the washrooms, which had a noticeable smell. It turned out this was because they were expecting a big group soon, but being so close to the queue of people and having others constantly watching our table took away from the experience.
The starters arrived quickly, which we appreciated. The paneer tikka and chicken 65 were spot on and really enjoyable. The chicken seekh kebab was on the drier side but still okay to eat. We were surprised that the main course came out in under 15 minutes, especially considering they were preparing for a group buffet, so that part was really well managed. The daal tadka and Hyderabadi biryani were both excellent and full of flavor. The bread basket was a bit too oily for our taste but still quite decent overall.
The butter chicken, however, was a major disappointment. It came with a very small portion of thin julienned chicken strips, maybe 70 to 80 grams max, and the sauce didn’t resemble authentic butter chicken in flavor or consistency. I’d really suggest they revisit that dish and maybe even just look up a classic version on google to see the difference.
We added a couple more items during the meal. The veg samosa arrived still cold in the center, likely straight from the freezer. Thankfully the staff were kind and replaced it when we asked. The roghan josh had a beautifully rich and tasty sauce but the meat was tough and chewy with some sinewy bits. They might want to consider using a different cut of lamb for better texture.
To end the meal we ordered fresh orange juice but it didn’t taste fresh at all. It had that artificial flavor like it was made with syrup or essence, which was disappointing especially since fresh oranges are in season and widely available.
All in all the restaurant has a lot of potential. The vibe is good, the food mostly delivers and the service was friendly, especially the staff who helped when issues came up. It’s a bit on the pricey side but with a few small improvements, especially in food quality and seating, it could definitely...
