We booked our trip with Baku Heritage Tours and had a very good overall experience. I found the company on Google, and our travel planner Ilaha was excellent—always quick to respond on WhatsApp or call, very caring, and available whenever needed. We made a lot of back and forth with plans and price, and she was extremely patient, understanding, and helpful throughout.
We were 7 people traveling in a comfortable Mercedes Vito with AC. Our driver Yalchin was professional, punctual, and spoke good English. He picked us up on time at the airport, helped settle our luggage (especially for our elderly parents), and throughout the trip drove smoothly without rushing. He was not a guide but an English-speaking driver who always made sure we were comfortable, assisted with communication, and even helped negotiate prices—like reducing the mud volcano jeep ride from 30 to 15. He also stopped at grocery stores and currency exchanges when needed (though note that banks in the city give better rates).
The tours were well-organized, but there are a few areas that could be improved. For mosque visits, the company should advise on dress code—at Bibi Heybat Mosque we were denied entry due to clothing restrictions. We also missed the Abqora wine tasting as it requires advance booking, and our trip to Gabala coincided with rainy weather, so some activities weren’t possible. A little more proactive planning from the company would have made the experience even better.
Restaurants in Baku were great, though outside the city they felt more touristy, so checking Google reviews before choosing helps. Our airport drop with another driver was also smooth and on time.
Overall, we had a very positive experience with Baku Heritage Tours. With a bit more fine-tuning in planning and communication, they can make the trips even...
Read moreThe Baku Heritage Tour led by Elshad was a remarkable journey that showcased the unique natural wonders and rich cultural history of Azerbaijan. One of the starting highlights was the visit to the mud volcanoes on the outskirts of Baku. Elshad captivated us with his insights into the geological processes behind these fascinating formations, where mud eruptions created a surreal landscape. The bubbling mud and steam provided a remarkable visual experience, further enhanced by local legends that Elshad shared, turning our visit into an engaging exploration of science and folklore. Next, we explored Qobustan National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its ancient rock carvings. Elshad expertly guided us through the petroglyphs, which offer a glimpse into the lives of prehistoric communities dating back over 40,000 years. His detailed explanations about the significance of the carvings, depicting hunting scenes and rituals, deepened our understanding of the region's prehistoric culture. The dramatic scenery of the surrounding rock formations added to the atmosphere, making our exploration both educational and visually captivating. The tour continued to the iconic sites of Yanardag, the "Burning Mountain," and Atashgah, the Fire Temple of the Zoroastrians. At Yanardag, the ever-burning flames created a mesmerizing spectacle, and Elshad's enthusiasm helped us appreciate its historical and cultural significance. Finally, Atashgah’s rich history as a Zoroastrian worship site resonated as Elshad shared captivating stories of fire worshippers who once congregated there. Overall, Elshad's knowledge and passion enhanced our experience, making the Baku Heritage Tour a memorable adventure through Azerbaijan's natural and...
Read moreWe booked with them an English speaking driver for two day tours. Gobustan and khinalig. And let me be very clear did not want a guide, but needed the English speaking driver to direct us to what to see and where to go! We were assigned a driver for the route, when short of 5-10 kms short of the destination we were handed over to a non English speaking driver ON BOTH days. The gentleman had no clue what to direct us to and what to answer as obviously we could not communicate. The first day I ignored as maybe, slip of the mind someone forgets to direct us to a certain area and recommend how to go about it. But the second day was amazing….we were collected from oir hotel and driven 3 hours out of Baku where we were transferred to another car. This gentleman was non English speaking driver. Took us to the national park, drive is further for an hour or maybe hour and a half, and brings us back. Smiling face always, but because of the language barrier, we could not communicate!!! He drives us back to were we boarded his carriage. Without showing/directing us to all the things that were included in the tour.
If I needed only a ride to these destinations I could have easily hired a self drive car from Baku at 1/10 the price.
When u confronted the company they blamed us in return, I requested for a partial refund as i felt cheated instead they they refused and said payments to drivers were already made.
What a rip off. Please don’t go to them and get cheated. Such a lousy client servicing team. And seriously thinking they were not that cheap also. Please go to another company and not here. Not worth it. Very...
