Midway Baku Hotel — Hotel in Baku City

I don't know why this hotel has such a high rating!!! First of all, there is no parking belongs to the hotel. It's normal city paid parking. And in order to pay for parking you need to have local sim and know local language. Otherwise, you will not be able to pay for the parking ( if you are lucky to find it). Second! Rooms have no isolation at all. It's like you are sitting in big cardboard. Every sound from outside you can hear. Housekeeping women start to talk and make noise from very early morning. They talk nonstop. In addition, the hotel runs silly music in the corridor that is also heard in your room. I have asked to switch this music several times. There is no rest or peace in this hotel. Till late night and from early morning it's continues noice! And we complain to the reception the just smile and say sorry and next day everything repeated. At breakfast there is a lot of food but not much you can really eat. Mostly, it's meat, chicken, and different types of sausages. Veges were not looking fresh. Ordered omlet or fried eggs extremely oily. Sweets and drinks were good. The location is good. Near boulevard and seaside. Rooms were big and clean. Overall, our stay was a nightmare. I checked out within 3 hrs! HORRIBLE service! Do not book deluxe room with balcony! They will give you a horrible garbage lane facing room with balcony. Literally paid extra after looking at the photos of balcony and got a room just above 8 big garbage dumps of street! Even the check in staff Zeki was so cold natured rude and didnt even reply or talk properly! I dont know how and why this horrible place has such great reviews .. i dont know if it is paid reviews or what.. the cleaning lady and the door boy are very courteous only! I asked them to give me another room (even if it is a downgrade from what i paid for "delux" room because i dont think anyone likes to stay in garbage smell just right outside the balcony when paying so much), to that they replied they can't help. When asked one of the staff later they said there are many rooms available but the receptionist is not giving you because he doesnt want to do re entry online!!! I paid more money and was ready to settle for a no balcony smaller room if it meant away from stink and dirty street garbage bins but they did not help at all! I literally checked out within 3 hours as we could not stay in that old small damp stinky room and checked into another hotel. Money wasted and horrible experience for an otherwise great trip! This hotel is the worst scam ever. I suspect that their online reviews are fake/bought reviews. Otherwise, I cannot explain the HUGE gap between the reviews and reality. |First of all, the staff mostly does not speak English. We reserved 3 rooms online, but they never got back to us despite recurring calls and emails. So, when we arrived at the hotel, we were not certain whether they had rooms for us or not. Unfortunately, as it turned out, they did have rooms for us. The rooms were DIRTY, mine DID NOT HAVE A WINDOW at all, all stank of the SEWAGE (which was a main motif in the hotel). The NOISE from the street was unbearable (even without a window). For some reason, KIDS were RUNNING IN THE CORRIDORS at around 3:00 AM, screaming. The STAFF in the corridors were also NOISY with their walkie-talkies. NONE OF THE REQUESTS FROM RECEPTION WERE EVER TAKEN CARE OF. When I told them I did not want to stay there for the second and third night, they REFUSED TO GRANT A REFUND (it was all paid upfront at the reception upon checking in), and we just left the rooms, still paying for them.|Finally, the location (apart from the very noisy street) is not bad. ||All in all, DON'T THINK ABOUT IT IF YOU LIKE YOURSELVES...
