Celebrated birthday of a relative here and we loved the restaurant.
Jashan is located on the 7th Floor of Wyndham Garden. The restaurant is very aptly decorated for those special occasions. Seating is available in various types as per your needs, prefer a table away from the Live Music? Or right at the center of the action? They've got both. Sofa seating is also available but very limited. Our table had a Pool view but sadly it wasn't visible as it was nightfall.
Before I get to the food & service, I'd like to talk about something truly unique and the reason behind the 5-star rating - Live Music. Jashan has a band of 3 people - A Tabla player, Harmonium male player who is also an amazing singer and a female lead singer. They entertained us with various classic/recent Indian & Pakistani songs. Some of the songs were completely acoustic while others were more Karaoke style. Every song was delivered with a smile and we rightly applauded after every performance as they were all truly exhilarating.
The staff were really welcoming and provided a great table service. Dirty & empty plates were removed & replaced in a timely fashion. The chef personally came to us to ask how the food was which I saw a nice gesture. It's better to get feedback on the spot rather than wait for reviews etc. For the food, we ordered Papdi Chaat, Stuffed Golgappa, Chooza Makhani and Bhatti Murgh (along with Orange Juice & Sweet Lassi). The starters & main course alike were both fabulous though my only gripe is the portion of the Makhani. Now the portion wasn't bad by any terms as I've seen smaller portions in other restaurants but we would've liked a bigger portion.
Papdi Chaat was quite unique as we've never tasted one like Jashans, it was amazing . Golgappas were nice. Makhani was easily one of the best in Bahrain and we always judge a Desi restaurant by the taste of its Makhani dish (avid fan here). Bhatti Murgh was something new to me personally as I've never tried it before but I LOVED it.
Finally, the price - I was expecting the bill to end up at upwards of BD 30+ due to the Tax & Levies but we only paid BD 25 for 4 people. The prices are very reasonable.
All in all the food was delicious and we're definitely coming back for more. Primarily for the Live Music! If the management is reading this then please let your band know they...
Read moreI recently visited this Kerala restaurant with a friend and an Arab guest, and while there were a few positives, the overall experience fell short of expectations.
The welcome at the entrance was just okay—nothing particularly impressive. However, our waitress, Mounika, was very pleasant and attentive. With a little extra training—especially in local customs and basic Arabic phrases to make international guests feel more welcome—she could be outstanding.
The food service was inconsistent, with dishes arriving as they were ready rather than together, which isn’t ideal when different orders are placed. Additionally, we weren’t asked about our preference for water (still/sparkling), which is a small but noticeable detail in a fine-dining setting.
As for the food: The Kerala porotta was average. The appam was below par—lacking the usual soft, fluffy texture. The fish nirvana portion was disappointingly small for the price. Many dishes were quite greasy, and tissues weren’t provided, which would have been helpful.
The washroom was very cramped and didn’t match the upscale ambiance the restaurant seems to aim for.
Given the pricing, I don’t believe the experience was worth the money. With better service coordination, improved food quality, and attention to small details, this place could be...
Read moreInvited my friends for a dinner to jashan thinking it will be a lovely place to be in... but apart from the ambience nothing was good... i am a rajanthani n their rajasthani food was not even close to the authentic taste... the service is very average...they are more in a hurry to clear up stuff... staff doesn't ask before serving water...they just pour it in n then charge a big amount... food presentation is good but taste is not at all good... the worst dal bati choorma... dahi pakodi was badly served... looked like leftovers from previous order... the chicken was horrible...ordered veg platter for starters but tht was decent... however the staff is only waiting to clear the stuff up...they don't even bother to ask even if there is still food left in the bowls... they don't even give us a chance to think if we wabt it packed up... they will not even ask the person eating if they are done n just take away the plate... we had loads of food left which they just quickly picked up and threw away... its too expensive a place with small food portions and not even worth it since the food tastes not as good as it should for the price they are charging... i will never recommend...
